Looks great on your wrist. I’ve like the yellow dial a lot, however these new cases at 44mm are beyond my wrist.

I wonder how many collectors enter Journe with a Sport purchase? Most collectors I know, myself included, took some time to warm to the Sport line. Although the current lineup is generally more appealing (and broader in terms of choices) so perhaps it is a more common entry point.

I just like sport watches in general. My first Patek was a 5167. I put a very high value on comfort so if this watch was in SS I probably wouldn’t be interested at this size.

I see a ton of journe DNA in it from the applied arabic numerals to the sapphire small seconds sub dial and of course the signature hands. I also find the movement to be particularly gorgeous even though it’s not gold. I was prepared to be underwhelmed but compared to the competition I think it’s fantastic to look at.

I’ve been actively seeking the CMS in Ti as well but haven’t been able to track one down yet.

I understand that, and the point on comfort which is ridiculed by some is well taken.

I remember the first time I put the original Octa Sport in Aluminum on the wrist, it was a little jarring how light it was.

Owning the Titanium Centigraphe, after finally coming around to the Sport line, I can say I reach for it more often than not because it’s such an easy wear. Aside from a Sistem51 it’s the most comfortable watch on the wrist I have. And that’s despite the lack of real adjustability (or availability of half links) on the bracelet. The lightness allows for an imperfect fit still be good.

Shouldn’t all sport watches be light and comfortable? And thin? I think so.

The centigraphe was almost my first journe. I think the sport line offers a unique combination of complication and finishing in the sports watch category, I even liked the rubber bumpers. But ultimately I passed because the "sport" in the sport line feels like an aesthetic moniker and journe doesn't take it seriously. No water resistance and no extra shock protection, its all external design with no internal changes. Still cool and unique but I don't get the sense it is something they care to focus on or really do well.

In reality, for most people, there is no sport occurring with a several thousand (or tens of thousands) dollar watch on the wrist. It IS just marketing.

But at least Journe made the piece comfortable and light on the wrist.

There are of course exceptions to the above, but they are exceptions. Twenty years ago I wore my Sea-Dweller everywhere and doing everything. These days, I wouldn’t do that with a modern a Rolex (a reflection of the price/value, and risk of damage or loss).

I certainly agree. Having owned the octo chrono gmt I’m no stranger to absurdly light watches and for me anyways it’s a desirable feature.

Totally agree and disagree. When I buy a sports car the reality is that I will never ever take it to the nurburgring in a scenario where lap times matter so that is just marketing for me as a consumer. However, it still represents a performance benchmark beyond the aesthetics and the packaging even if I personally will never take full advantage of it.

Journe adds little to no sports performance into their sport line, just repackaging to look like a sports watch. C'mon,.you have to admit 30m wr is hard to reconcile as sporting. If bulgari can do 100m water resistance in the ss octo, Journe could bother to do the same.

To be clear, I'm not saying they are bad watches, they are awesome and have little competition for what they offer, but I think journe's focus is in the more traditional pieces so that seems more like an apt starting place for a first journe than a sports piece.

More aptly put if Journe didn’t have a sport line, I most likely would not have a Journe to begin with. While I drool over the resonance and optimum I likely would not look to buy one.

If I may add my two cents: Journe sports watches have a supremely distinctive look. I, and many others, find it quite attractive. The watches are incredibly light-weight which is nice for a sports watch. While they only have a 30m water resistance rating anybody associated with Journe will tell you that splashing around in a pool would be okay. They also work for running; bike-riding; motorcycles and golf. And frankly...could you be any cooler than if you walked into a dark bar in Marseilles (or Tangier or any other exotic place) wearing RayBans and a Journe OctaSport or Ti Centigraphe?

May I add two cents worth of opinion? I'm going to. The Journe sport watches are really a lot of what one would want for that type. They are light; good-looking and very distinctive. (Most Journe watches are, of course.) They only have 30m water resistance rating but anyone connected to the Journe brand will tell you that they are fine for splashing around in a pool. And they are good for biking, running, motor cycling, golfing.
And what is cooler than walking into a dark bar in Marseilles (or Tangier or some equally exotic locale) wearing a pair of RayBans and an OctaSport?

I really miss the meetups. I don't live in a part of the country where we can do them outdoors. I'm hoping some will start happening again as we get towards the fall and groups of strangers can hang out inside restaurants again. Very much looking forward to that!
