OP39 Fitting
(Spurred by a similar post I read earlier...)
At the beginning of August I acquired an OP 39mm in white, reference 114300. It’s a fantastic looking timepiece and I love the aesthetic. It’s very versatile, and in many respects, it ticks all the boxes for me. However, the lack of adjustment to the bracelet/clasp is ruining this watch for me. Having worn nothing else but this watch over the last 8 weeks, I have come to find the micro adjustment options leaving me with a watch annoyingly loose, or a watch uncomfortably tight. This has become more noticeable with the seasonal changes we’re currently experiencing with the weather. I have extensively searched for an easylink extension in the hope this may alleviate or solve the problem. I have made enquiries at several ADs, repair specialists, parts suppliers and grey dealers. My efforts have been fruitless. As such, the watch now sits in storage and my Omega SMP (with 10mm adjustable clasp) is now back on wrist. So I am left scratching my head and in need of thoughts and opinions...Should I persist with these annoyances; continue searching for an easylink; look for third party/aftermarket clasp solutions, or; reluctantly sell the watch and just accept this isn’t the one? |

The Explorer is incredibly similar, but not white obviously. It's not impossible to purchase it and then sell it as a head only option to someone looking for a leather strap/nato-exclusive watch.
Certainly not the cheapest option, but it gets you what you want. |

The third party/aftermarket clasp option is not a bad choice.

I have thought of this and similar elaborate options such as purchasing an explorer and ‘losing’ my bracelet. Then asking for the AD to sell me a new one. However, I have enquires with ADs for the explorer and have been told the waitlist could be months. Just seems a lot of hassle for something so small - with Omega I went to the AD, they ordered the part and 3 days later it was ready for collection... |

Nope - I’ve tried the three so far, including the one where I bought the watch. I’ve had a straight no from one of them. Another told me they cannot order a part for a watch that doesn’t come with it, and that it won’t fit anyway. The third quite bizarrely told me that any changes I make to a Rolex with parts not specific to that watch invalidates the warranty. |
