Chrono sub dials and tach ring are what make this dial pop. Really like this piece.

to me this is definitely the best 44 black themed

i apologize if this is trivial and i misunderstood you
You are correct and that last one is drop dead gorgeous to me!

Of course any 44mm (well that doesn't count the new white--I'll ignore that one) is nothing short of amazing--but that new Grey combo just pops, and gives the 44mm the contrast it needed from all black

If I am going to get an SS ROO this year it will be one of those two. What do you think?:

Interesting--why do you say that?

I have 44mm FC and I love it. But, the new 44mm in grey has more color variation to it. However, I must say the FC is stealth.

So I guess it's just personal choice.

Did I mention I have that grey
____

Soly my vote is all black over blue to answer your question.

Paul, I was leaning more towards the blue since I already have, like you, the 44FC. Do you think it would be too much black? Although I do like the black/red a lot as well...confused! I want to call my AD and let them reserve the first one of these two that they get.

This looks hot too:

Good point Soly--I forgot about that. Then yes, the blue would be the logical choice in my book. And BTW, I'm normally not a blue guy, but that one is super sharp looking

As per the Hodinkee website, the 42 models will hit retailers in April 2014! That's pretty early!

Quote:
The new Royal Oak Offshore 42mm collection should be hitting retailers in early April 2014, and the price for the steel models is $25,600 on rubber straps and $26,000 on the hornback alligator straps, while the rose-gold model is $40,700 on the strap and $69,200 on the bracelet.

I really hope they release 42mm with ceramic or rubber bezel + display caseback.

I want a rose gold rubberclad with display caseback.
That would satisfy my watch buying for the next 2 years.

Tough call. Both looks great. I will go with the one on the left by a very small margin.

WOW, that's great news for sure.

The waiting until late summer/early fall I always thought was silly.

Any news on when new 44mm might release

Trunk shows probably in Feb/March. Hopefully get better info then, and if not, at least get to see them in person.

Haven't post in a while but saw the new 44mm dial and fell in love. I doubt AP would do this but check out what the new dial would look like in the FC case with a little photochop! I like it!

The grey really compliments the grain in the FC.

I think the black/red will look nicer in person (pure guess). I have a blue 15400 and love it, but if the new blue ROO is anything like the Navy, I fear it may seem like a good idea at first, and then not look as great live on your wrist.

I have seen some pics that the blue ROO looks amazing, and some not so much. The black/red I can't foresee any surprises.

I look forward to seeing both at the boutique!
