ROC dial question: black or white?

I really like them both and am having trouble deciding. Looking at those available on the grey market, pricing is all over the board and I can't establish a clear price difference. And, I wonder which will be stronger for resale. Any thoughts?

If you’re thinking about resale as a primary concern you’ve already lost IMO. Far better “investments” to be had.

Buy what you like. The silver trades a bit lower than black generally (15510, 15500, 15400, 26240, etc.)

doesn't sound like OP is a flipper or purchasing as an "investment" imo

nothing wrong with considering "resale value" even if you have no intent on reselling. even John Mayer and Ed discussed this on talking watches about how it feels good to know that these purchases sometimes go up in value and brings validation to the hobby etc.

Appeal to authority is a logical fallacy, and could care less what they think tbh.

Sure there’s nothing inherently wrong, but if one intends to hold onto the piece it’s a moot point. If he wants to trade later down the line then sure.

All this is to say I care about resale value too. But it’s not a main concern, it’s a “nice to have”

I'm not a flipper

But I tend to loose interest after a few years and if I don't wear it (in rotation) I don't keep it.
I can't decide between the two so I've asked for other opinions.

That’s fair. I think the white is not only nicer, but the pedals hold up better on the secondary market.

I tried the white at the AP Boutique in Dallas back in the summer. I was smitten!

26331 all the way! Panda rules. I wanted the black but my SA said he sees them next to each other all the time and the white was the best of the bunch. He was right.

Did you mean the 26331 or 26240 ROC please?

I'm interested in either or a 26240. Have to decide on dial color first.

I was between the black or silver dial on my 26240, I ultimately went with white and I’m very happy with my decision. I, and a fair amount of people on the forum, prefer the silver dial - but I think the resale on the black is marginally higher, if that matters.

I personally would choose based on what else I have in my collection. If you don't have many white dials then I'd go with the silver dial offering.

I own the black RO and tried the white/silver ROC at a Boutique.

Black:
Pro: the black matches the steel case better, safe bet if undecided, easier to resale just in case you don’t like it.
Cons: dial does not pop, seems washed, little to no light play.
Note: I really had to struggle with all these pics, the dial is just too dull imo

White:
Pro: the contrast and light play is 20 out of 10.
Cons: white/silver dial doesn’t match the steel case imo, afraid I might get bored with the dial as it was with other white dials (Explorer 42, panda daytona, etc).
Note: the pics don’t do justice, I was mesmerized with it, though not sure it will last.

Excellent analysis. I agree with your sentiment that the white dial may not have the same allure after 6-12 months of ownership. I personally was not drawn to it. However the new black dial on the 15510 seems to have more shine and pop to it than the previous models.
