Speedy packaging
Anyone hear of a 3861 coming in a wooden box? I didn’t know any better and several people have told me that is wrong. I watched my AD take it out of the brown shipping box and its in a wooden box with everything inside

First, congratulations
Post a picture of the box for us please. As others have said, it should come in a black box as pictured above. Is this an authorized Omega Dealer where you purchased? |

The box comes with a Moonwatch book that fits in a special hole so is specific to the Moonwatch. You can see the red horizontal line under the watch box in my photo. That's the book.

You also get a travel case as well...some people don't realise this can be removed from the box...

The newer wooden box has the travel case too. Never seen a Speedmaster in one of these ‘humidors’ though.

I talked to my SA today….he was so excited that we were able to get the Snoopy neither of us thought about the box the 3861 was in. We are swapping boxes next week when I pick up the longer strap. Thanks All

At some time in early 2022 to middle of 2022; best of my knowledge. The photo shows my acquisition from late December of 2022. Keep in mind that the AD combines the watch and the box, so, I did not know which version I would receive. |

I think that's a nice feature to the newer boxes. Hopefully I'll be able to find one of those travel cases on eBay. I've got two of the older wooden boxes and really like those ones as they are.
Omega boxes have certainly come a LONG way, for the better. A lot of the boxes from the 80s, 90s, and early to mid 2000s completely fall apart or transfer dye to anything it contacts. It's nice to see this changed so years down the road fantastic watches like the ones above will have a box worth keeping (hopefully) for those who desire to do so. |

My speedmaster moonphase came in the wood box from the OB, and looking online all of them for sale have this box as well, so some Speedys do come in the wood box but obviously not all of them.
