AR coating
anyone notice this on their pams?
even though its only coated on the inside, it still has a blue tinge to it. im guessing it is because of the inside curve of the glass... pretty cool and here it is by just altering the angle a little |

Tommy, did you have that AR done after the fact or is that all original?
Also, where did you get this 005 from? I'm asking these questions b/c I'm a "little" concerned. There are definitely some Panerai that have a light blue hue to them, but most are more very light yellow. When there is a super strong blue one, it usually wasn't done by Panerai. I'm also worried b/c there is a Tomee on p.com that just posted about his 005 being off two minutes a day, which is very unusual for a 005. Are you the same Tomee. There things are easy to regulate by Panerai, so unless it was dropped, mailed, etc. Another cause for concern. If you just bought this from someone, I'd crack open the case as soon as possible if I were you. I hope I am completely wrong here and sorry if I'm giving false signs. I'm no pro replica detector, just "trying" to help you out.

That's good to hear you bought from a good source. Like I said, I'm no expert, but I have heard that STRONG blue hue's are a sign of fakes.

Is there a particular light you used for that pic? I tried to duplicate it but couldn't. Is it possible the glass was replaced at some time?

I have also read, that the AR coating material that Panerai used varied over the years. Some are indeed blue, some more yellow and others almost invisible.
Looks like you are FINE!

I'm not an expert, but I used to wear glasses with AR coating for many years. It's nothing fancy, but indeed for all the glasses I've had with AR coating, it had a bluish tinge to it. I did also notice that in time it would wear a little. But thats ofcourse from washing it, scrubbing it a little etc.

One more thing about AR coating. The shops that sold me the glasses always advised not to take glasses with AR coating in steam rooms/saunas as the heat will destroy the coating. I guess this would apply also to watches with AR coating.
