Icon20 Help I am looking at a 5513 but not sure if the dial is right or the band.

Good morning I don't have a picture but it is on ebay and this is the address

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/130703972246?...#ht_500wt_1200

I hope that is ok. I am not sure what it should go for but he lives close by and I was going to see if he would take $3600 maybe it is high I don't know. what are your thoughts is it all original? His reserve is over $4500 so I don't think it will sell we are in Canada and never get a high dollar on ebay. O well.

Let me know and Thanks

I'm not an expert but check the serial number it should be around 2,16X,XXX if it's a 1967. The bezel insert isn't original. Should have a fat font insert for that year.

The bracelet looks kind of rough, so maybe $4,000, so you can source the proper bezel insert. Find something with patina'd pearl and some wear on the black.

If you can look at it in person, I would...

It looks like there's about 20 minutes on e-bay left and at $3,800, so I would be surprised if it sold.

Offer him something and explain that you are there with cash, he doesn't have to deal with shipping, e-bay fees and probably PayPal fee too. All he can do is counter offer you.

Yes that was my thinking too I was going to try less than the 3800 on his ebay add and just see.
Thanks for the heads up.

HEY i just noticed that the crown has three dots is that right for 1967? I thought it was a double lock not a triple. Am i wrong?

Keep us posted, the proper bezel insert won't be cheap, but you can find one that'll be more appropriate...

This auction will tell you where the market is one a watch like this without box and papers and no service history...The bad pictures did him no favors either.

Hey, the watch is 45 years old, I'm sure a crown or crystal has been replaced and at some point.

No it had a reserve on it still. But when I called him he said he would think about my offer of cash in hand as to the ebay world. So I hope in a few days he will make me a good home town deal! Any thoughts on the three dot crown for a 1967- 5513.

End Links don't look right to me.

I would post this on VRF before buying

Also ask for and post pics of S/N and Model No.

Ends should be 580, and also the 93150 looks weird, but the bracelet could be an older one with a stamp "Patent Pending." Newer ones have "Patented" stamped when you flip the bracelet off the clasp.

So I went and looked at the watch today and it seems that it was re-lumed.
It still glowed. Does that affect the price much? I think the end links said 280
is that right?
Thanks

The re-lumed hits the value pretty hard. i would keep looking. the dial is a huge amount of the value of the watch. plus you will forever be looking at the redone plots. better with a rough orig dial than one that has been altered

The dial lOoks fine for a 67and not relUmed, a 67 dial should still glow , perfectly normal.

Bracelet is later addition.

Dial looks original to me too, though there is some plot degradation. Bracelet is a folded link 9315, as somebody else mentioned, difficult to gauge exact wear / stretch from those pics, but it does look a little tired. Could have had 7206 originally, but a 9315 isn't far out in date terms, and some even say the first 9315/280 combos were sold from around '66/67, so could even be original?

Pics too dark / small etc to give a really good representation, but at 3800 USD / 2500 GBP, I'd say it was pretty good value if it all checked out and the bracelet wasn't scrap. Inlays aren't that expensive (300 USD ish) and even as is you could happily wear it. Seems like there are some service markings in case back, but I suppose you'd have to budget another 700 USD for a full service / pressure test etc if you were planning on wearing it every day.

Edited to add: I had a 1.73m meters first, which I believed to be from circa 1967.

From experience, I would always have a loop with me if looking at a wtahc like this, it make looking at the plots much easier... Like harry said, if it's been re-lumed look elsewhere.

It's impossible to tell from the picture IMHO.
