We've decided to go with Option 1 - the 'LeCoultre' is just too cool! Plus, seeing some signs of wear on a 60+ year old clock isn't so bad. The vintage-loving version of myself from a few years ago would probably scoff at my initial hesitance.

The clockmaker is taking the week to service it, so getting this thing at $600 fully serviced is an awesome steal. Will post more pictures onces the clock is in its place at the house.

good choice, quick turn around too! Look forward to seeing it soon.

How'd the IWC turn out? Just need a battery or did it get a cleaning too?

Unfortunately, it wasn't just a battery and he's having to look and see if he can get parts for it.

He loved the clock and said that if he couldn't get the parts in, to ensure that I send it into IWC because it is a pretty unique piece and well worth the cost of fixing - which of course I agree. So I'm hoping he'll have more word once I pick up the Atmos on Saturday.

Late to the party, but I would have done what you did. Older + branding + less money? Seems good to me.
