Finally got a call yesterday, but declined

I had put my name for a Sub in late 2021 or early 2022 with an AD I had no prior history. The AD finally reached out yesterday offering a black and gold Sub, which is not what I wanted so declined. I'm sure I wasn't the first or last called for this piece and given the uncertain economic climate, should I read anything into this as possible inventory coming through ADs or is this just a piece that is not really desired.

Black and gold sub? You mean a Two Tone, or all gold?

Either way, I wouldn't look to far into the economic climate implications on this one. Yes, I think that will have some affect on the availability of even gold pr partial precious metal watches, but it's not like they called you for a steel daytona, pepsi, or even gold daytona.

So you ordered this exact watch and then decided you didn't want it?

Normal practice. Customer requests SS, AD offers TT.

You did the right thing. It would have been a "relationship builder", nothing more.

Yep. So crazy that you have to buy the expensive one to get the cheap one!

Yes, two tone. No, I didn't order it, requested a SS sub.

I'm not into relationship building if it's based on buying something I don't want. Also looking to buy a DJ 36 so we'll see if they come through on that - a much less in demand piece.

Completely normal. I wanted an SS Pepsi, and got offered the WG/blue dial Pepsi months later… I declined, but it’s what they (ADs) do.

Only a couple of years ago, Bluesy was on the shelves available for sale. How times have changed.

That exact model was for sale in a Rolex AD in Chicago area. I don’t think it’s as popular as a SS.

TT routinely offered up in lieu of the requested SS. Standard practice. AD gets to sell a more expensive piece and customer gets to walk out pretending to be happy

The two tone YG Sub w/ black dial isn't as popular as its blue dial sibling. They're just trying to find a buyer.

Good call for passing and continuing to wait for the SS.

If it's not a watch you wanted or desired you definetely did the right thing. Heard a lot of stories about people committing to watches they don't want to create that AD relationship and end up waiting years for the watch they initially wanted.

Wait for what you want. The AD is just calling everyone on their wait list to test the waters to move a TT Sub. This relationship building thing is starting to loose steam imho and moving to a more balanced back & forth with AD's. It has been implied to never upset your AD in the slightest otherwise you'll move to the back of the line in wait-list purgatory...whatever! Good luck in your purchases. Cheers!

I could only tolerate 126613LB a few months before selling it. I am much happier with 126610 (Submariner DATE).

The issue is TT just makes you yearn for full PM. Oh, I wish I could wear a 126618LB all day. These are just Ramses-level of bling and I love them so dearly.

Get both! I could honestly be happy owning every single sub reference.

If you don't want it don't buy it is always the right response.

That said, a two-tone sub at MRSP is a fair deal vis-a-vis a steel sub at 20 percent above.

At least your money isn't going into grey markup, it's going into 18 carat gold which has value.

Never feel forced so you did the right thing. But youd be surprised at what you may love on your wrist. I did not want a two tone sub…til i had it and now i actually love it. Makes me want the full gold sub. Subs are my favorite reference because of how versatile they wear and durable they are and while tt and gold add a jewelry flair to it, its eye catching and beautiful. I recommend for people to always take a gander and try on when possible

100% my experience. The TT is kind of OG but yet modern enough on the 12 series AND adds some pop with the YG. Love it.

Agree. I recently acquired a TT SD43, and it's STUNNING. Now I find myself wanting a full gold piece - like the new GMT. Just as well it's not available, I'd be thinking about which body part to donate to get it, LOL!

A TT Sub in 12+ months is not indicative of a market shift.

I get where you are coming from on this watch. I would never buy something I didn't want. Some would. Your money, your choice.
