I would go for blue only, might have to be in rose gold.

Depending on your collection/dial colors you have. Ultimately, black or that Zurich edition mentioned above.

I have all black and white dial watches, and only one blue. I think I’m going to wait and see if blue ever becomes available. That dial is absolutely stunning!

If you truly want the blue, perhaps the blue dial time would be an alternative? Personally, I have had a blue three hander and the dial is fantastic indeed.

In Europe and the UK a 3 hand black dial overseas has a wait list at the dealers and is just starting to command a premium on the grey market.I just acquired one from a dealer on chrono 24 and find the quick change strap a brilliant idea...it looks a totally different watch with the black rubber strap...black is not the most exciting colour but it is classy and goes with any colour outfit.
I have a blue sun ray effect Bulgari, which looks amazing ,but I have to be careful what I wear with it.

Vacheron Constantin Overseas 4500V - Black or Silver

I just added the black today, and it’s really fantastic. The black lacquer dial is inky...very deep, you can get lost in it.

As for the watch and my initial reaction after a few hours: I would describe it as a great combination of the Patek Aquanaut and the Rolex Sub.

Its fine finish, both the case and the movement, and its combination of high polish and perfectly brushed surfaces are Aqua-like, yet the watch is more substantial and seemingly (it’s only been a few hours) more durable than an Aquanaut. Keep in mind , the watch is 11mm thick so it’s not nearly as thin as a 5167a, but it’s not trying to be that. It’s also thinner than the ~12.5mm (I believe) Sub. This watch can handle Sub duties if needed. I will comfortably wear this wherever I’d wear my Sub.

Also, refreshingly, the “bezel-concerns” of the Aquanaut are not present on the 4500v. The angles plus both the brushed and polished finishes of the 4500v bezel afford it more tolerance for wear and scratches versus the perfectly and uniformly brushed finishing on the Aquanaut bezels. YMMV

I haven’t seen the silver dial in person, but I will say the pics of it look fantastic. It’s a win either way.

Good luck and enjoy whichever you get once received.

Congrats! Wear it in health! What are your experience with the size compared to sub or aquanaut or something?

Yes, for sure, and the straps match unlike the blue one.

Black is very sporty, silver is both sporty and elegant, stunning dial which changes colour according to light. I had no doubts between the two, but I also have an Explorer and a Speedmaster, too many black dials.

Does anyone know how I can post pictures without having to write 10 messages?

My thoughts, exactly. Something about the blue rubber strap is off. Looks great on the bracelet though.

Agreed, love this one.

However I really think Vacheron botched the date (size, font, etc.) on the Overseas.

I have the blue worldtime and love it (even if big... 43.5mm) but wouldn't go for the 3 hander... maybe except this one tbh. But this date...

I know that many people are of the opinion that the colour of the date wheel should be matched to the dial but I actually don't mind that much. I feel the white gives the dial a bit of balance to the 9o clock marker

But yes, i agree it is a very lazy execution of the date window given the high standard and quality across the rest of the watch

I am more in the camp of matching colors frankly and feel that some of these 3 handers would much better off without a date. At the end of the day, AP is the only house in this category to do it nicely. It's also something that makes me scratch my head with PP, how hard is it to match the dial color with date window? Unbelievable.

But don't get me wrong the Overseas is a stunning piece. I guess it's just complaining about the small details but for a $20k steel watch I feel we can do that ;-)

I’m good with the date wheel as is. Sure, it’s smaller, but it’s very legible. The date is not in your face. It keeps the dial clean, and it helps maintain a nice balance to the watch.

On the rubber strap (which is how I have been wearing it for the past week), it quickly has become a favorite to wear.

This watch is right in the sweet spot of Haute Horology, wearability, refinement, and robustness.

Looks great!

I agree. I like the date wheel execution on the overseas. Gives great balance to the 9 marker.

All of my Omegas from black to blue and silver have matching wheels. It's not indicative of high horology or "sparing no expense", it's just a design element.

Black. If the silver dial had been white instead, it would had been better IMO.

If you can't get the blue one, silver is the best alternative in my opinion
