Can I wear my rolex explorer in the steam or sauna after a workout?
I'm getting my new explorer next week and was wondering if its ok to pop in the steam room after a workout and swim? It's ok for a swim to 100m, but will the heat or steam cause any damage? Don't wanna be leaving it in the lockers...

Swimming w/ your Rolex on is fine.........I wouldn't risk heat of a sauna, jacuzzi, hot tub, etc., I wouldn't want to tempt the watch gods.....& the heat screw up the seals etc.

Heat okay. Moisture okay. Heat + Moisture.... hmmmm. I just wouldn't risk it on an Exp. That said, I have worn a diver watch in a hot tub without problems (just did it once or twice), but maybe the seals are better than on a non-diver, also, the diver in question was not a Rolex ;-). |

Thanks, loads of good info and advice on here. Sounds like a wierd question but i run a health club and end up in there most mornings. Dont want to wreck it first go. Had some cheaper watches before and reckon i might have ruined them in there.

You can climb Mount Everest with it (it has been done ) or put it in a pot with boiling water without any problems (not that you would do that).
Wear your watch and enjoy it. |

Spa and Sauna temperatures are only 103 to 106 degrees F. Steam rooms aren't really direct steam in any manner... if they were, they would cook your skin off your body..
Out here in the Desert, all day long the temperatures are above that of saunas and spas just walking around, and temperatures in cars can easily top 140....... You cannot possibly hurt your watch with these temperatures whether it is in the water or not...

I wear my watch everywhere, everywhere except the sauna. The sauna is a place for quite contemplation and subdued chat, the only acceptable thing to take with you into a sauna is a towel which is used for sitting on and a cold beer or two.

In my sauna, temperature is usually about 70-80 degrees C (158-176 degrees F). Maybe my Rolex could make it but the bracelet would burn my wrist Actually, it's sauna time...

I wore my Datejust absolutely everywhere I went, including saunas, steam rooms etc... 24 years wearing it everyday and no problems - however I've just bought my Sub and the AD did say to me specifically - don't wear it in sauna's, he said it will almost certainly be OK, but they do advise people against it!!!

I wear my 5 yr old DJ in the pool, sauna, steam & midwest below freezing temps. I would never leave it in the locker room. It is always on my wrist.

yes if rolex is stating in literature to "wash with soapy water post ocean and salt contact" steam is certainly ok just keep your persons on your persons in the steam.

Dear ROLEX:
Please affirm in your manuals that your watches will survive: - taking off all the plastic bits - showering - sleeping - sauna's - working with a computer - working on a computer - working near a computer - spelling 'computer' - driving my car quickly - arguing with my wife - boxing - training my dog - training my wife - boxing with my boss - swimming - drowning - diving - sky-diving - divorces - biking - workouts in gyms - watch winders - storage in safety deposit boxes - not being worn - being worn too much - being worn when chopping wood, golfing, shooting anything, rock climbing, falling, crashing, painting, filing nails, rough sex, theater, waxing my car, watering my flowers, cleaning fish etc. +++++ Please folks at ROLEX if you would please include what your watches can and can't do and or a lead into what should be avoided when wearing your watches on a HUMAN arm - this would avoid much consternation in reading and commenting on baseless threads....kind thanks...Rolex Owner. |
