No AD has lists that long. In reality, a serious list may have 5 names. In this market they need to commit to the people they want to sell to so those folks don't go elsewhere. Beyond that, it is just courteous to take a name. But if they throw out some huge number, even 50, forget about it. When the market turns, they will gladly sell you the watch and they will appreciate your business. Right now they need to serve their VIP customers.

you might be on to something but i'm not sure a gray would buy some of the watches this guy has. My sales guy showed me one of the watches he bought and it's one of those jeweled ones that go for over 100k. Maybe he bought it to treat himself after successful gray sales

Greys buy those watches as well. Normal folks with boat loads of money aren't dropping 500k on watches. If it's their "business", that's another story.

The 570 is obviously a made-up number.

I've visited the Rolex AD (where I bought my 14060 new in 1996) where I live several times this year, and they have just done my Sub´s second service. They are always very friendly, courteous and treat me with respect, and I like the watchmaster who always deals with me. But when I ask about ss Rolexes (as of last week they had none) he always gives me a strange look Last time I was in I played around with various Tudors and Omegas, but none really "sang" to me. I do, however, always get excellent coffee and Swiss chocolates!!

I dropped in to the same AD yesterday, OP, very little in the case....maybe 8 watches, all yellow DJ and DD, a couple bimetal YM’s and a PM daytona. Rolex actually sent them plain white “flats” with no compartments to fill up large sections of the display case. The repair shop upstairs had more Rolex inventory haha

If I parachuted a crate of 570 GMT’s into th ADs parking lot and they start calling people on their list, how many you think they’d actually move?
