Tried on the TT SD43 today .....

.....and something crazy happened:
I loved it.

I had previously bashed the two tone version of this watch ....because it made no sense to me.
As some may recall, I was offered and turned down the SS version months ago. Great watch and captures the essence of the SD43.
When I saw pics of the TT, I thought to myself— why would rolex make a TT Version of this watch? That doesn’t make sense, and why would anyone want to buy it? It’s an even more ‘hardcore’ watch than a sub and as such its DNA is SS. Right?

Well, I went by to see the TT version and really really liked it.
The bigger bezel, the gold lettering of ‘seadweller’, the better bracelet..... it just looked awesome in person.....Just the right aMount of ‘pop’ to this watch.
It’s pushing the limits of my 6.5” wrist but oddly enough, in some ways it wears a little better than a sub, specifically because there is less roll/play on a smaller wrist. It always seems to hold its position just right and it’s pretty comfortable even with that weight.
It’s definitely a change for me as I’m not used to a watch with that presence/heft, despite having a 44mm Panerai and a 42mm AP ROOC.

Here are some pics :

One more thing:
We say this a lot on here I know, but Pics truly don’t do this watch justice.

I've completely flipped my opinions so many times now that I don't even trust myself to not like a watch. Doesn't look out of place on your wrist, given the size and to me, it looks like a larger sub, which I like. Have the SS.

Is this Lux Bond & Green in Boston? If so, they’ve been sitting on that for a few weeks. I’d try to negotiate. With the new Boutique coming in on Newbury, I don’t know if they’ll be keeping their status long.

True for all two tones. Gold has depth and shine that is hard to capture. Applies to Krugs and eagles too.

Glad you like it!

I sold my SS SD43 as I didn’t like the weight (I have a 7.5 wrist) and preferred my ND sub. I just turned down the TT SD43 at my AD as it just didn’t click for me, although oddly enough my wife liked it.

I think it’s one of those polarizing models where you either really like it or hate it. I wanted to like it, but after trying it on it just didn’t work for me. Glad there are those who it does work for though as it is a nice watch!

I was not originally a fan of the SS SD43, but when I tried the TT, it seemed special. This is bold watch for sure and on my short list. I feel like it wears smaller than the SS but who knows.

I felt the same-- that it wore a bit smaller than the SS

lol-- not sure. Going to give this some thought.
I'm waiting on my PP 5990, so I've set funds aside for that.

This is a watch I can probably sit tight on and get next year if I pass on it now, so no rush.
But it's definitely a piece that will stay on mind.

Not for me sadly. The SD43 seems too much a tool watch to be TT.

I passed too for now and like you said no rush as it’s a new reference. I am thinking in year or two maybe pick up at a discount; cough, cough, when this recent madness subsides.

The black and gold is strong. I am not a huge fan of TT but have owned quite a few over the years. I own the SD43 in SS and really like it. I am waiting for the YG version of the SD43. I would be a buyer.

The TT got killed at Basel, but after seeing wrist shots I’ve certainly come around on it.

It does look good on you. If I didn't have the steel version already, I would be taking a look at that.

My AD had one. I opted for the TT SkyD Black dial instead. I felt that one was more useful to me. No regrets.
