I had kind of written off getting another Rolex, but I told myself when I got promoted, I would mark the occasion with a watch. The model that jumped out at me was the Datejust blue with the fluted bezel. I previously had a Tudor BB41 (the real one, without the bezel), so I was really interested in the 36mm DJ with a jubilee.

Anyway, the promotion went through yesterday. It's the biggest professional leap in my career. The nearest AD is usually out of Rolex or has very little, very expensive stock. Anyway, I figured I would go down and at least put my name in for the blue DJ 36 with the fluted bezel.
I got to the AD and they had two pieces: Yachtmaster and a DJ 36 on a jubilee. At that point, I tried on the DJ and it fit perfectly, no resizing needed. This was the watch.

As I was buying the piece a signing, etc, three people came in inquiring about similar Rolex models, only to find out they just missed it. It was literally meant to be. It's not going to be my daily, at least not when I'm working from home, but it will always be my go-to in upscale events, dinners, and important meetings.

I did. It's really beautiful but it wasn't for me. Everyone at Ben Bridge in Austin was super helpful.

Congratulations on the promotion and the watch! Is it the blue one or black, hard to see from that angle and lighting. I just picked up a fluted/blue/stick/jubilee DJ41 a couple of weeks ago, so I know the dial can look black in certain conditions.

I have the fluted/black/stick/jubilee dj36. I definitely wanted the blue but I'm very happy to have found the black.
