As others have stated, the appeal of the Daytona is its size and dimensions.

Stahl definitely has someone on the inside but he usually doesn’t have an accurate prediction until a few days before the release. The 42mm Daytona is more of a wish than a prediction: He had already wished for the watch last summer — before the Sept 1st 2020 release.

If they release a 42mm version, I will cherish mine all the more. The Daytona to me is the perfect size. Almost every brand has a 42mm + chronograph (and they are usually quite thick too). Much harder to find a chrono as svelt as the Daytona.
I disagree. A solid subdial SS ceramic on a larger Daytona that wears like true 40mm watch? A lot of vintage guys (myself included) would lose interest in the 116500 and want the “116263.” But Rolex doesn’t do reissues so I’d be shocked if they ever release a watch like this....unfortunately.

I do not see this happening , not a major overhaul . I still have no desire for a Daytona it’s too small , illegible, has screw down pushers and no date . I am waiting on the Zenith Chronomaster Sport . Hey , one less person waiting in the queue for a Daytona .

From a personal standpoint, this would suck - if it happens they would definitely discontinue the current model making grey the only option for 40mm.

Price would skyrocket. Personally I’d never be able to justify the purchase at grey prices, which will skyrocket - this watch would elude me forever.

A full sized 42mm Daytona would be nice.

I think the one watch that deserve a bigger case for better dial legibility is the Daytona.

It’s inevitable. Eventually it will happen to accommodate ever growing wrists sizes. Though it will be much to the chagrin of purists.

It will be a gradual change though and will likely be marketed as a 42mm but in reality will measure 41.2 mm

If they bring out a 42mm with a date - THAT is the day I buy another Daytona.

I cant stand watches without at least a date complication.

Such a watch is already available, suppose the writing on the dial doesn't suit everyone’s taste though...

Its bigger, got a date complication, stainless steel bezel and is readily available

I hope this is not true I am desperately trying to save up for a black dial grey and if it gets discontinued because of this will be well annoyed

I don't believe Rolex would alter such an iconic model so drastically.

Guess we'll see.

I don't think Rolex will mess with the Daytona at this moment.

I would love a 42mm Daytona. The size of the current Daytona is what has kept me from getting one (not like I could anyway but that's another story)

Daytona II would be neat at 42. But leave at 40 the Daytona.

Probably will be 41 just like the sub, datejust, OP. I mean the writing is kinda on the wall.

As famous as these people are on the social media universe, I think they should zip it until it gets close to date and with some sort of back up for their information. The renderings are horrible as well.

Posting stuff like this garners nothing but false hype especially in a market where people try to find a whiff of a rumor to spike up more grey prices.

I like the current size of the Daytona. It's comfortable both in stainless steel and precious metal variants. Its low profile slides under my shirt cuff easily.

I wouldn't blame Rolex for increasing the size, but I don't need a plus sized watch to look appropriate on my wrist.

Maybe they’ll introduce a 42 and keep the existing one and call it the heritage model

im not in the market for another daytona and probably less so if it was 42mm

but if there is a 42mm, it would be awesome if they discontinued the current SS version.

sky high prices will be even higher!
