Local Grand Seiko AD has both SBGT241 & SBGN009

Both watches are attractive.

The SBGT241 pops with a bright silver dial and shiny bracelet (so called "rice bracelet"). It also has the gold star indicating a +/- 5 sec per year accuracy. For some reason this watch weighs 110g. It feels very light on the wrist.

On the other hand the SBGN009 being a GMT has the extra hour hand in gold that contrasts with the dial. The blue dial needs to be in a bright light to view it's pattern. It weighs 150g and feels less delicate than the 241.

Can someone help me decide between the two? Unfortunately I don't want to by both!

Cheers!

You must be leaning one way or the other. It helps those trying to give you a push. Comfort and accuracy, SBGT. Aesthetics, GMT, durability, SBGN. For me, the balance of the advantages is with SBGN. The SBGT's advantages are slight whereas the SBGN's are really noticeable.

I would go with the SBGT241 because I find the Day/Date more useful than the 24hr hand, even when travelling. I picked up an SBGT235 in Hiroshima a couple of years ago, and it's probably been on my wrist more than any other watch since then. Always looks good with anything and is always ready to go.

Thank you all for the comments. Very helpful.
I’m leaning towards the SBGT because of the great dial, gold star and
Attractive bracelet.

I prefer the 241 as I do not need the GMT hand and I prefer the lighter dial.

I saw the SBGN 009 this week, love the watch. I might actually buy my first GS. The Blue Snowflake SBGA 407 is also quite nice as is the thin manual wind blue dial SBGK 005.

I am weighing very late but I recently picked up a mint SBGN009 and it is stunning in person. Pics do not do it justice. Sometimes it look almost black and in the sun it pops. But it is not a bling bling watch surprisingly. It is rather discreet. The bracelet tapers from 20 to 18 and that is my main gripe. Afraid I am to used to the taper on my 14060 and 114270.

My SBN009 gets its share or wrist time. I would say unequal split with my 11427 my other daily driver. Truly the SBGN009 is a stunning watch and with the 9F on board it is by far my moist accrauet piece even with my Explorer running within COSC.

I will never sell it. It is that good.

Sbgt241

Topper Jeweler in Northern California has a preowned 241 ( May 2018 ) at $2,700 . This watch comes with all original papers and a one year Topper warranty. Topper is a GS AD.
