Agree, Journe should be considered here IMO. Octa calendrier is an amazing piece as is the resonance.

Dato probably hold value the best. But the case and logs of the 5205 plus a useful complication in a 5205 would have me go that route

It all comes down to what you really want. If you are "catching" the Patek train, then 5205G is a great start. Traditional complication (annual cal is as traditional Patek as they come). IMHO 5205g is infinitely more wearable than either Dato or Zeit.
You can daily it without finding it too obtrusive or cumbersome.

Alternatively, if you simply want a "phuck off" piece with a movement that makes grown men cry, then Dato is the go!

Some enabling to go with the post

While I greatly respect FPJ, especially the Resonance, when I've put one on it has not wowed me.

I know dress watches are out of fashion, however, as an attorney, I wear a suit or blazer during the week so I frequently wear a dress watch.

Also, it seems to be a good time to buy a dress PP or ALS as the used market seems to be dropping...what are your thoughts and thanks in advance for any responses.
Dato Platinum (original version) for 39k or 5205 for 33k

Agree with the 5205g-013 being underrated and a beautiful piece.

I think there is a chiming limited edition Zeitwerk in honey gold. That is a nice watch.

Went to ALS today to try on Dato and Zeitwerk again...salesperson brought out a prototype zeitwerk date in Lange grey: spectacular! I did not like it when I 1st saw it online but in person it is a wonderful watch. A bit thinner and the red date function was really very cool. Love the Lange grey color.
