Play when adjusting time?

Sorry if this has been addressed before...

I'm assuming it's normal to have some play in the stem when adjusting time correct? What I mean is ther is a a tiny bit of lag before the hands really get to moving.

It varies, but my Rolex's are the best, very sticky minute hands when setting.

And by the way, not to get too metaphysical...we can not adjust time, only the watch.

Humm. Maybe I used the wrong term with lag. It's lose to start and the hands move very very slightly at first, then you feel greater resistance and the hands move faster. In other words the resistance is not the same at the beginning.

All mine have a bit of play. There have been many threads on this. Normal.

Yes, normal for there to be "gear lash" in a mechanical movement. Just like the transmission in a car.

Gear lash- Yes, it is noticeable on my 16610. Play- as in worn components- not in the least.

Both my Explorer and Exp II have some play and sometimes I have to set a few times to get the second hand and minute hand sychronized. Amazingly both my Ranger and North Flag set without play and lag.

I turn the minute hand past the minute that I want to set by about 5 and then back to the minute. That seems to help take up the "slack" so that you can set the minute more precisely.
