This is like when people on The forum ask whether they like a submariner or submariner date and the sometimes overwhelming majority say the original submariner. it doesn't mean much. Because the truth of the matter is, the overwhelming majority of buyers prefer the submariner date, but for whatever reason, the prideful submariner lovers maybe more prone to jump in and express their preference. The submariner date is made in much higher volume, and is in greater demand.

There is no doubt, there are those few that may prefer the black iteration dial, the majority of people however would rather have the white dial. So honestly those poles really mean nothing because we all know the answer as to what the majority people prefer.

The cost to acquire these for dealers keeps going up too. It's getting harder to get people to come off of them for a decent price. Everybody wants top dollar because they know how much they are "worth".

I don’t think everyone ‘hates’ the black dial - just more people prefer the white.

Personally, for that kind of money I would be looking to go the PM route.

116515LN with the Arabic dial would be my choice over either the white or black dial SS watches

Davidsw has a new store so I went there. I was wearing white dial ss and he says he would buy that from me. I saw you probably offer 25k and he says he would buy it for 25k. I think others will pay 27k used

All I could say is this......

The 116520 relative a bargain when compared to 116500 regrading market value...

the black edges out the white for versatility, appears larger, has a more premium feel in the metal vs the white.

The 116520 in white is awesome and trumps the black 116500, followed by the white 116500 for me.

Agreed! Plus you don't have to worry about the bezel getting scratched all to hell like the other models

I admire the white, but adore the Black. Posted about this a few months ago, if anyone wants to have a read:

Totally Agree. The Ceramic Daytona is amazing watch but is it $8K more then a Stainless Bezel one? no way.

lol. What gave it away.

I feel that the full stainless steel Daytonas reference 116520 or 16520 will re-emerge again from their former glory as an old school nostalgia bling product since most products are going ceramic or new age material sleek. They were for their longest time highly coveted from the late 90's and that only stopped when they were discontinued and replaced by the 116500. The past four years or so the 116500 has taken the spotlight from the 116520 and there's been minimal media appearances from its predecessor.

Don’t get me wrong. I loved the 116520 and owned a black and later the white dial. It’s a great watch, but I much prefer the 116500. My biggest complaint with the 116520 was the ss polished bezel was a scratch magnet and a bit too shiny.

Totally agree. I've been saying it for years, the white is more photogenic because of the contrast of the sub-dials, but on the wrist it looks slightly cheap to me (I've owned/flipped it twice). Just too toothpaste white for my liking.

The black Daytona-C on the wrist has a stunning, classic quality that is somewhat lost in photos.

And how are most guys choosing to buy a new Daytona ... from photos, because you almost never see them in person at ADs.

So his price is fixed price no negotiable?????

His list price seems higher than others too.

I like both but these prices are nuts. I have a white but from an AD. The whole watch market is becoming untouchable unless you have a good AD relationship.

The 116520 is best in black dial. The 116500 is best in white dial. It really is that simple. If TT, just make sure you get it cheap. TT Daytona's look silly. White Gold is best with blue dial, yellow gold with green etc.

I love the pics of the white dial (having never seen it in person) but I am not really a white dial guy. I recently had a white SMP with the high contrast black bezel (ala Daytona) but it did not last. No matter how hard I try, I just don’t really like white dialed watches.

I have been lucky enough to score a black Daytona and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! It is so sleek, it is so sexy, it is so stunning. No regret here
