2 Special Black Bays

Standard Tudor Black Bay’s are pretty common, but I think its fair to say these 2 models are possibly the most desirable.

The Harrods edition just because of its exclusivity & connection to one of the most famous department stores in the world & the first generation watches equipped with the ETA base movement, ‘smiley face’ text & Rose logo on the dial.

Not seen many people post these 2 watches together so just thought I’d share these pics for your enjoyment.

Cheers

beautiful pics....especially love the red bezeled one with the tudor rose emblem. they've nailed the aesthetics on that; too bad they did away with the rose on the current ones. the rose jives very well with the brandname- Tudor / Tudor rose :)

Very nice. I used to own the black ETA and miss it often. Sold it when I got an SD4K as I thought it was too similar but I should have kept it. :/

Agree, the rose logo is far nicer than the shield

Both are great, and unless you come to sell them, it's more about what you enjoy than what is more desirable. Everyone has their own style and models that suit it.

I love these both so much! These two plus the original James Bond vintage sub are what got me into watches in the first place. Very very nice.

I like those Tudor Black Bays and I quite fancy the silver version but having to have a leather or fabric strap put's me off slightly, the BB 58 with Blue Dial and bezel is looking pretty sexy. A dive watch is next for me and obviously being a member of the Rolex forum a Sub is my main consideration. However, I'm not going to be able to buy one new, and although I have the money to throw at a used/grey market one a part of me is feeling uncomfortable about the value proposition. Quite clearly a Steel Rolex Sub Date is not really an £ 11k watch.

I like the BB 58 in blue but would I be happy, would I get buyers remorse because a Sub is what I want. The Black Bay 58 seems a very well put together, beautiful and functional timepiece, Shit am I a brand snob and do I feel others will think I've compromised with a Black Bay because I can't afford a Sub. Do I have a line? Well I guess I wouldn't wear a Timex.

I guess my issue is if I buy a Sub I'll feel that I'm not getting Value but I have a Rolex on my wrist. If I buy a Black Bay 58 I'll maybe feel I've compromised.

You should persue your AD for a Sub if that’s what you’ve really set your heart on.

Like you say, anything else will just feel like a compromise & you may even begin to resent the BB which would be a shame.

Worst case scenario, if you really can’t wait and wanted to go grey you can get a nice 116610LN for only a small premium over retail.

‘Small’ being relative of course - we tend to forget a couple of £000’s over retail is still more than most people would even consider spending on a watch never mind overspending on a watch!

Good luck with the hunt
