WG DD40 or 5960
I know its apples and oranges, but I am trying to decide between the two.
The DD40 in WG is beautiful with a silver dial and roman numerals. The 5960 is equally spectacular to me with the deep blue dial and blue strap. Either would be a daily or semi-regular wear. Thoughts and criticisms are appreciated. |

you get high horology piece with patek phillippe quality and finishing. you get four complications: annual calendar, chronograph, day/night indicator and power reserve vs day and date with Rolex

5960 for sure. Better finish and more useful complication. And its a Patek.

for me, it's a no brainer - 5960. The DD is probably more versatile and better in the rain, etc. But, the 5960 looks far more special in person. Just my $0.02.

I’d take the Rolex. The Patek is too tough for my old eyes

Proud owner of the 5960G, and love it. In my opinion it is the best “bang for your buck” patek on the market. Flyback chronograph and annual calendar with the power reserve in white gold. The red seconds hand paired with the brown strap gives it a very sporty look and something you can definitely rock as a daily!

I have both 5960/1A and 5960G/01G.
Superb!!! And I will choose them over Rolex anyday :) .

If you like complicated watches, the 5960 is the winner. If you want something that can take a beating then the DD40. Rolex makes nothing like a AC chrono. At best, the closest would be a chrono (Daytona) or an AC (Sky dweller). |

I like the DD40 better due to it being more versatile on the president bracelet. I love the 5960 especially the platinum versions but a little too thick for my taste.

Tough call. The Patek is a stellar piece, but the DD is more versatile IMHO

I just went through this “process,” except I was considering the 36mm DDs. Since I was looking for a daily wear, I preferred a bracelet. I also don’t like the way the Patek’s hands squat on the small dial. Once someone pointed out what was nagging at me about the 5960s, the DD was here the next day.

Those are very different animals...
A classic WG DD40 is the most under the radar from DD40's iterations and wears like a peach. Very versatile, my favorite Rolex (among a dozen I own).
PP 5960P is a top heavy, sits a bit tall on the wrist. I can see it is not for everyone... Good like with your choice!IMG_1507.jpeg IMG_3145.jpeg |

WG DD for sure. Don’t like the way the 5960 looks. I know it is a Patek but have to like the look of the watch on my wrist…right?
