Icon5 Hello from Wisconsin

Hello...

I've come to TRF to learn more about the watch I was recently gifted by my dad. Based on the research I've done, I believe it to be a 1959 Submariner ref 5512 Eagle Beak PCG (not sure if that's all formatted/ordered correctly!) Photo attached to post.

It's a bit faded and is without the original bracelet, but still runs and keeps decent time. My dad says it loses a couple minutes a month. Not too shabby considering it hasn't been serviced since the early 80's.

I'm interested in finding a period-correct bracelet for this watch at some point. Also, I am going to send it to an independent service center as I've heard that sending it to Rolex might end up with them changing out the watch face & hands which I definitely do not want! I want to retain the patina & remember it the way my dad gave it to me.

Have a great day!

You would want to send this to one of the CW21 Vintage Rolex experts.
For two examples:
I only use CW21 watchmakers.
If you do not mind mailing your watch, look up:

Bob Ridley, Dallas, TX
https://watchmakers.com/contact-us/
817-276-1400

or his son

Phillip Ridley, Mesa, Arizona
phillip@ridleywatchmakers.com
817-821-2118

They are both Rolex Vintage experts and will be glad to speak to you in great detail about your vintage (or other) Rolex needs

(They may also be able to give you bracelet advice)

Welcome to the forum

Beautiful watch, and as above, send to a vintage expert for any work.

A few days ago I posted in a different group online and was give Bob's info there as well, so I'm seeing a trend. To me, that says a lot.

I sent him an email along with the photo of the watch. Hoping to hear from him in the next few days.

Thank you very much!

Dial looks like perhaps a relume? (The 6 o'clock indice, for example, seems to be 'overflowing' at the bottom?)

Keep us posted, Okay?
