I like the Speed Master and have owned several over the years. I do not like the plastic crystal version with the manual wind and the bracelet adjustment is challenging at best. I like the 44.25 Co-Axial version with the sapphire crystal and automatic movement though. I own the Tag Heuer Autavia and can tell you that it is a great watch and a lot of fun to wear and for me is a real option to the Speed Master. Go try the Speed Master on before you buy as to me it, was an underwhelming watch. Go pre-owned and through a TS and come in at about $3200-3400. Good luck.

I admit I went with speedy out of habit. It’s hard to beat for me. Against most any watch.

But this watch is really nice looking. Been reading up on it too. Very cool watch indeed. I’m still speedy. I think.

But it’s a lot closer than I would have imagined.

It's peeking my curiosity...

Better than Tag Autavia and other Speedy's in that
range ? I like the black dial and leather strap option
as well... Thanks

I just got one few weeks ago.. I love it! go for it.

Beautiful photos Sir! The one you posted on Instagram yesterday with the blue jersey and glove is stunning! Please, can you post that one on here? Need a new wallpaper for the Macbook

It's a must have in any collection as far as I'm concerned. And in that price point, it is truly hard to beat.

Imagine my disappointment when I looked down at my wrist and just thought "Next..."

I was genuinely gutted.

It really didn't do anything for me at all and I was completely underwhelmed.

Maybe I didn't give it enough time and maybe if I actually owned one & wore it for a while I may learn to love it but honestly I just felt nothing.

Sorry...

Had a similar experience at the Omega AD after wanting one of these for years based on how they look in pics... Was shocked by how unimpressed I was and I walked...

Fast forward another year and I figured it out... The bracelet...

So I bought a new one this summer from a TS and immediately put it on a leather NATO and BOOM--- I am right back in love and it gets rotation between Rolexes often...

Recently I had it on at a Rolex AD. Took it off to try something on and set it on the glass countertop with their nice lights shining down on it... the Rolex reps all commented what a great looking watch my Speedie is and how the strap was made for the watch. have a look---

I love mine. I highly recommend the hesalite over the sapphire crystal.

I had one for 12 years - got it for a great price used and wore it all the time. Bracelet, leather, nato - absolutely loved it. It was on my wrist for the births of my two kids and . . . I traded it last year.

Why? Don't ask - I don't know what I was thinking. Temporary insanity perhaps. I regretted it the minute I walked out of the FedEx store. In the back of my mind, I knew it was a mistake. A flat out bad decision on my part. I'm not a flipper or an extensive collector either - there was also no financial reason I needed to trade it. I just blew it.

It wasn't a special one - not a calibre 321, no tritium, no applied logo, not an Ed White, etc. - but it was special to me. The manual wind, the hesalite, the legibility, how versatile and purpose built it is, all contribute to something quite special that I now fully recognize and appreciate.

I just bought one brand new from a TS yesterday.
