I like it probably due to I simply love the watch. How big is your wrist size?

I absolutely love IWC but their watches are just huge for someone like me with girly wrists.

I really wanted one however so I chose the Portofino because it wears much smaller.

IMHO that’s too big on you but if you like it and can wear it with confidence... who cares!!

Yes of course it is too big, on the other hand its called Big Pilot so it is supposed to be big. Personally I would stay away from an oversized watch, but only you can decide what you like.

I think it's too big. But if it were a Rolex, we'd find a way to make it fit.

Great watch that's supposed to be big....that being said, from those photos, it would be too big for me if I had those wrists.

Yep, too big. Looks like a lot of lug overhang.

Yeah and that is fine on a big wrist, but this just looks goofy IMO.

I think that it looks too large on your wrist. I would look at some of the other options from IWC as they have quite a few that would work.

I love the big pilot but it just does not work on small wrists. Get a Mark XVIII, I love my blue dialed Mark, and it fits my 7 1/4” wrist best.

Thanks for all the feedback...and yeah, I think so too. Just needed a 'second' set of eyes. I find with bug watches, if I'm wearing a sweater or something with a thicker long sleeve, size matters less. But then, I want to be able to wear a watch regardless of what I'm wearing. The jury has spoken!

Too big? That is too broad of a question.

Yes for your bare wrist.

But if you had several watches, it could be a perfect one wear over the sweater or parka. A Winter watch, if you will.

A’la dive watches and wetsuits...

Unless your last name is Agnelli, you should steer away from wearing a watch over any piece of clothing (with the exception of a wetsuit)

I should expand my comment - I didn’t mean walking around on the street.

For example, while skiing or other Winter activities that make it hard to use your watch when it’s strapped to a bare wrist.

When doing XC in the back country I and my group wore watches over our parkas.

It does look big on your wrist, OP. I usually take a look at the lugs in relation to the wrist to gauge if a watch is too big (when it overhangs) or if it just sits right (no overhanging lugs). Hope this helps.

Go with what you’re personally comfortable with! As many mentioned, it’s meant to wear big but ultimately comes down to personal preference and comfort!

Its way too big, but, you need a pretty sizeable wrist to be able to handle the big pilot. I have a near 7-inch wrist and they look huge on me, but I wouldn't care. I love that watch and I would still wear it.

I’ve found that if I try on a watch and immediately think “is it too big for me”, 9 times out of 10 i am correct. Have made a few purchases ignoring my own gut and regretted it later when I sold/traded for a loss.
