Where to find Rolex watches on the cheap

Hi all,

So the question I have is this. I see a lot of sellers on Facebook buy/sell groups and it looks as though the have a supply of watches from somewhere. They are able to constantly sell Rolex and omegas cheap but obviously still make a profit. Where are they finding these watches from?

I want to start buying watches so I can enjoy them for a bit then get them polished, serviced and flip them on Facebook too.

I wouldn’t know the first thing about where to procure watches to make a profit on. What sites to look at etc.

Obviously people do make a profit as it’s the same sellers on Facebook constantly selling various watches. So Irrespective of what I am smoking, does anyone have any info for me as I have said above, I wouldn’t know where to look.

You need to have a connection with a store that will sell you unwanted watches for less than retail. As long as you're willing to buy dozens of them at a time, you'll get a good enough price to make money reselling.

No such thing as cheap Rolex.
If there was, everyone would be wearing it.

However, there is this jewelry store where a YG DD 36 was bought by a member for a reasonable price due to it's year of make. There are heaps of other Rolex too.

You may want to try it

I think many buy watches in one country then sell them in another less the VAT , Different countries ave different prices ect which makes it easy to make a profit especially if it's one of the 'Hot watches' that have long waiting lists

OP.....

Go to your bank and take out $1,000,000

Buy 30 hard selling Day Dates from an AD.
Beg them for 5 x DaytonaC, 3 x SkyD blue dials, 2 x Pepsi.

Sell all DDs at cost (might take you years & years)
Make $10k each on the others.
Total profit $100K
Please wire me $20k for advice.

Thrift stores seem a good place to start along with car boot sales.

Check out ‘pledge membership’.

It may not help with your future profit line but will give you a warm feeling and some amazing advantages.

i know somebody who makes a tremendous living buying and selling older and vintage rolex and omega,

First of all he has a massive knowledge up in his head that took him many years to acquire,

Secondly, he has an eye for a watch, he knows what is genuine, he knows what to buy and sell,

He travels around europe to the auctions and buys pieces, sometimes the more broken the better,

He has a professional watchmaker restore and rebuild the pieces,

He then sells them privately or puts them back through a high end auction,

There are no rolex watches 'on the cheap' to make a quick easy profit.

Cheers all.

We have somebody doing exactly what you just described.

It is also from him where I heard the unbelievable "Batman" will be discontinued. He was partly right..

Someone on the forum recently got lucky in a thrift store.

I would imagine these finds are very few and far between though.

i understand your new excitement about dealing in watches and obviously there are many making big money doing it but they have cut their teeth for years to get to that point. even as you say just grabbing one watch at a time and playing with it then popping it will be a monumental undertaking if you don't have the knowledge and experience.

when it comes to knowledge and experience, all of these big players have boots on the ground experience...not merely surfing the net to learn and look for cool watches. yea i know you said you only want to do this one watch at a time but the same rules apply...you need to know what you're looking at. you need to know watches inside and out.

ok so even if eventually you think you know watches, do you want a good deal? yea facebook and the net in general may pan out once in a great while but you are competing to buy those watches with everyone else on the net.

number 1 is you need to know what you're looking at. do you know if it's genuine or fake? do you know what is original or modified? after you can answer yes to that then you can start hunting for watches you can eventually flip. this is a very tricky and dangerous game. it takes street smarts and a lot of knowledge my friend.

I can usually find cheap Rolex in China town, but sometimes they spell it Folex. They looks the same about 100 feet away though, in the dark, under long sleeves ... LOL :D

OP, first of all, welcome to the forum! Secondly, my advice would be to buy stocks/mutual/index funds while you spend at least a few years researching and gaining the knowledge necessary to be in the second hand watch business. You will need to build rapport, clientele, and a reputation. That will take many years, a lot of hard work, and a little bit of luck. You will need significant capital or investors to get started so you might as well have your money make money for you while you are building your business plan and acquiring knowledge. Just my opinion.

P.S. If you are only entering this hobby/business for profits, you are in it for the wrong reasons.
