APSC Refinishing/Recoating Black APs

Hey guys just have a general question that maybe some of you can answer. I have a black Audemars survivor and wanted to understand what my options were if and when it scratched or dented. It's in mint condition right now but overtime I imagine it'll run into a brick wall somewhere. So have any of you who own a black AP, or one that is coated using their DLC process scratched or dented the case enough to show the loss of material, if so is that something that is repairable?

I can just say on thing, I have the Pam 028 LE in DLC and wore it for a while and it did not scratch, as I understood, may be wrong here, you can redo the coating but to coat it would cost a high price, the normal and crappy PVD coating for a watch is 2000 in Europe, so DLC should be much more, I would say 3-5k, so try to avoid brick walls is the best advice I can give you

PVD (physical vapour desposition) is not a coating itself, but the process by which a DLC (diamond like carbon) coating is applied to the item.

I highly doubt AP would re-coat it, and certainly not for that sort of price – they’re more likely to do a case/bezel exchange.
You should contact Clearwater to find out what exactly is the procedure, and current cost.

If the price charged was deemed too much, then having an independent dismantle the watch, thereby allowing you to send off the case/bezel to one of the numerous coating specialists you can find online, will provide you with a remedy for a much more modest outlay.

Did AP even make or use DLC coating on any of their ROO models? or any of their watches in this case?

From what I've read the survivor has a dlc coating. I'm far from an expert so...

the end of days has DLC coating on it and I believe it was one of the first company's to do so on a production watch.

Didn't the EOD come with 1 free recoating from AP?

I think they would have to remove the coating and re-coat .. possibly losing some unholy amount of metal in the process
