Hello, I have had my submariner for close to 16 years with not one issue and it looks brand new. yesterday I went to put in on after not wearing it for a few days and set the time and date and shook it to get it moving and it wouldnt. I shook it a little more adn the second hand moved a little bit and then stopped.

Any advice here? This has actually never even been in a pool or shower and I only where it during work hours or for a evening out. Please advise, am i looking at a big repair?

I think you should wind it properly then see what happens mate. If its been sitting for a few days just shaking it might not be enough to get it going.

Probably needs an oil or a cleaning if it hasn't been service lately. I would try manually winding it.

Instead of shaking it,how about giving it 40 winds of the crown!!

Put a fresh battery in it.

Manually wind it and see if that gets it started. When is it the last time it was serviced? It may be a broken mainspring. I had a broken mainspring once that would move a couple of seconds after giving it a shake. Good luck.

Always best to manual wind a stopped watch myself recommend a manual wind say once or twice a week even if watch is worn regular.See if that wind solves your problem,but like others pointed out if watch has not been serviced now is the time to do it cost around $500 plus parts if needed.

yes, tried winding it, if it is something broken is that a big expense? To be honest, it has never been serviced. I just where it occasionally as stated earlier.

It could be just a need of service but main spring could be broke but thats not a expencive part.But 16 years without a sevice could be many things but get it checked out.

!6 years old it will need a mainspring, axle couple gears gaskets detail and watertest. Send it down it'll be about 550. Rik
