Are case backs interchangeable?
I tried researching this but found no definitive answer.
Judgements aside, will a 116710 or 116610 caseback fit a 116600? Thx |

I believe so as all of the above are 40mm, but I am not 100% sure.

I don't believe the GMT would feature as thick of a caseback as a sea dweller or a submariner.

in casebacks you find a code since a couple of years same sizes stamped with the same 4figures ,like 2180 was a caseback for all SS Subs and GMTs -afaik-, I m not familiar with the 6digit references but I think it must be similar way of coding.

Case backs may screw onto the back of other models but there are slight differences.
A generic 2180 is for GMT's A generic 2160 is for Subs - it is thicker than the 2180 and further (deeper) away from the movement. A generic 2220 is for an SD. here is a chart for the new generics.. Case_number_info03.jpg

Haven't tried doing a switch, we rarely have a sea dweller and submariner of the same era together in the workshop.

We've seen this for 116710 and 116610. Both fit and pass pressure test. 116600 will fit 116710 and 116610 but don't think it fits the other way around

I ended up just selling the 116600. I stopped wearing it because it was so uncomfortable compared to my other watches. I had it for about 3 years and thought I’d never sell but it was getting zero wrist time. Adios
