They never had a 5522

Well last night on “TheWatchBox” Brian said they never had a 5522.

I personally couldn’t help but notice the “Watch Encyclopedia’s” (Tim) expression after Brian said that. Tim is a great guy from what I can tell and his memory is down right perplexing at times but still thought I’d share since this was kind of a huge deal which many here took opposing stances. My stance was that dealers have ways of making over retail on high demand pieces by a number of different ways. To be clear, that is just my opinion and I’m not pointing fingers but do want to spread the word about any concerning details other members may want to know before deciding to make long term relationships with others.

I believe Govberg owns watchbox (i.e., watchbox is their main pre-owned watch site). Either way, I'm not sure I follow the point of the OP's comments.

It's a long thread where someone was promised a 5522 by Govberg who reneged on the deal on required the person to spend a bunch of money on other purchases first before getting a 5522. Lots of other accusations starting flying around and the thread led to multiple people being banned.

TRF has since removed the thread.

To be fair, Brian was talking about a used 5522 on Thewatchbox broadcast and the previous thread was about a new piece being promised. Govberg as a Patek AD have certainly sold 1 or more new 5522’s.

Everyone I met at Govberg, including Tim and Marco, were incredibly nice and fun to work with.

Now, I think their used prices are nuts, but we had a pretty great customer experience.

No. In the old thread they had a used piece for sale in the used section but it was quickly taken down along with a few other Used “sealed with box and papers pieces”.

But yes the old thread did start as you said but once people started seeing a few speculative pieces accusations began or some questioning of how they acquired some of the pieces was the main topic for a while.

They once had a sealed “used” 5522 and a few other very hot used yet “sealed with box and papers pieces but they were all removed at the same time when the other thread had people looking at what was being said and their inventory.

The 5522 was on their site for sale as used well above double retail if memory serves me well but Brian was quick to correct Tim that they never had one on the show. Tim seemed awfully confused after Brian made the comment so I guess he didn’t know about why it was taken down is just my guess.

Mention you're on TRF and you'll get the royal treatment... or a contract put out on you.

The only way to know for sure is to buy 20000$ worth of jewellery, which gives access to receiving true responses from this particular AD.

FYI, they just posted a review of the 5522 on their Youtube channel, although the watch does not appear to be up yet on the website for sale -- unless it already sold.

That explains Tim's surprise - he had already done the review. LOL

Yea it’s not for sale though. Brian said they never had one for sale which Tim was surprised about.

Edit Tim does say it’s for sell.

Yea but Brian specifically stated they never had a used one for sale which is the entire point of me making the thread. Many of us saw the watch listing which was taken down once the other thread gained traction.

He says in the video it’s for sale. I would be surprised if it has sold before they got it listed. I bet they ask $55k minimum for it lol. I wonder when they got it?.....

I am sure like the last incident discussed over 22 pages it was just a rogue employee acting independent of managements wishes. Entirely innocent and coincidental and best left unmentioned to avoid tarnishing an above board AD's reputation, getting people banned, and having the thread frozen.

It obviously got PPs attention since Brian was so quick to correct Mr Mosso (who I truly respect) regardless of how it was portrayed to PP. I just thought it was pretty funny to see Tim (who basically has a photographic memory) get corrected by Brian. I can only imagine what was going through Tim’s head afterward. His expression was priceless that’s for sure.
