Lady Datejust question
Wife's birthday is coming up and am considering getting her a 34 or 36 DJ. Question, for those in the know, do the ADs offer discounts on the lady's models and how to the women's versions hold up in terms of value?

34 if she's petite. Don't know about discounts, ask? Maybe on dust collectors in the case? I wouldn't worry about future value, just enjoy it.

Datejusts have never had the same collector and enthusiast market as the professional models.
DJ 36's and OP 34's have been around for decades and so have a following of mostly men, as they have always been consider in the men's category. Comparisons can be found throughout the 'Net. The "ladies" versions that have flowered dials, and the 26, 28, and 31mm models, are not in much demand in the secondary market. Personally I buy my wife gifts that she likes and that I like to give here. I don't do a value comparison on gifts - that's for the recipient to think about whenever it arises. She has 4 Rolex and others, and has never brought up a discussion about getting rid of any of them.

Lady Datejust question
Traditionally the smaller sizes were seen as ladies watches. Nowadays a lot of women can rock 36 or even 40/41. Just comes down to preference.
As for discounts, with the current demand it’s unlikely for any discounts. I picked up a few DJ’s of varying configs in the past few months and couldn’t snag any discount. My SA says the “discount” is the fact that he’s offering me pieces as they come in fresh in their coffins. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

My last purchase for the Mrs (31mm) no discount worth mentioning.
I tried two AD’s but have no history with them.

Doubt you’ll get any discount unless you have a long-standing relationship.
It’s a gift. Don’t worry or think about long term value. Buy the watch you think she’ll enjoy and forget about it. Even better, take her in and tell her to take her pick...see what she likes. Watches are sooo personal. Unless your AD lets you take it home without filling out the card, and bring it back if she doesn’t like it...may be better to let her in on the purchase. |

I doubt the AD will give a discount. However, I would definitely try to get one.
I suggest a 34mm DateJust for the wife/boss. |

My wife is really tiny. She has probably a 5 inch wrist. She wore a DJ31 daily it was perfect. She now wears a DD36. Woman typically wear their watches looser than men. I think they both wear equally nice on her. Can’t go wrong either way.
