The clasp on the oyster perpetual is superior to the sub and gmt

I’m stirring the pot a bit before going to bed but seriously I think this is my favorite clasp. It’s secure. It has the easy link. It actually flows with the bracelet and doesn’t feel bulky like on the sub or gmt. Typical overbuilt Rolex quality.

I’d personally opt for it on all oysters given the choice.

I would kind of agree to some extend.

While I don't have the new 126000, I have one 116000 and a Milgauss (I would guess the clasp on my Milgauss is the same as the new 126000?).

Either way, the old 116000 should look the same at least, but without the easylink functionality.

From an optical perspective, yes it looks more elegant, but I think only when you compare it to a GMT or Sub. They have the extra long clasps which I'm not a big fan of.

On something like a Daytona you have the same added securing mechanism (sorry don't know what they call it), but the clasp itself is much smaller and does feel more elegant in that way.

While the OP/Milgauss clasp is secure enough for daily wear, I wouldn't trust it for most physical activities. Sure I've been in the ocean, some light mountainbiking and where-ever a normal day would take me. I could however see multiple scenarios where it could come off by suddenly brushing against it (has happened one time only for me - I was in my living room, no big deal).

I feel like I would miss the locking fold over part on the OP clasp...

I am in agreement. I love the oyster-clasp of the OP, it's one of the best clasps I've had on any watch. I also love the oyster bracelet in general. The combination is truly spectacular.

I agree, however, I'd put my money on the Oysterlock if used during any physical activities, for that extra layer of security.

Nothing beats a Pelagos clasp though

Yes and no!

Its basically the clasp from the Datejust since it got the easy link. Its very good but the oyster lock clasp from my Explorer feels stronger. This is my gada watch and thats because of the clasp.

I do agree, the clasp on the Sub feels a bit bulky.

I agree, and I love the engraved crown more than the embossed crowns.

My OP doesn't have easylink though, but I don't really need it either.

They all offer something, but I’m partial to the Deepsea’s, it offers the most and for my wrist size I have no issues.

Any pics ot the OP clasp? Now wondering if its like the Milgauss with the spring assist release or like the Air King without. Also stamped or raised crown ?
Ok.. just did a quick search on Watchbox video. It is like the Air King. I keep getting drawn to the silver dial more and more since l first saw it. I thought l was done but this could mean trouble.. The kind I like

I've got an AK and a 39OP... I've worn a Sub, and tried on the new Sub... AK clasp is the best in the business. It's solid, easy link, doesn't bulk out on a desk. Perfection

I can relate to this. Have both types of clasp and much prefer the bracelet/clasp of the Daytona or Milgauss for daily wearing, while the Glidelock of the Sub is a bit bulky for me. Sold my SD4K earlier because of 2 reasons: thick case and bulky clasp. The Glidelock however has the added security which could be useful for sport activities.

Agree. Have it on the OP41 and DJ. Elegant and sturdy design. I also do like the engraved crown.

Far more appear in agreement than I expected. I will post a pic of the clasp shortly. In terms of security I’ve done pretty rigorous activities in Patek and AP and even bvlgari and to me anyways the Rolex clasp on the OP is as or more secure.

I’ve never had a watch of any kind fall off my wrist so I guess it’s of minimal concern to me.

I’ve never owned a DJ so this is my first foray into this clasp setup. While I do like the glide lock as well I would like it more if it was more streamlined with the bracelet.

I like a clasp to harmoniously blend with the bracelet whereas sometimes the glidelock feels like something you are wearing on the bracelet.

Not sure why anyone who's ever had a glidelock clasp would agree with this.

Adding the easy link was a good idea.

I think the clasp is perfect for the intended purpose of the reference IMO

I’d still rather have the flip lock on the professional models ... seeing as how I dive and fly daily

Superior to a Glidelock? No way.

I had a Sub with the Glidelock and found it unnecessarily bulky and the adjustment fiddly as if released you then have to find the right fit again by trial and error (plus I will never need that amount of adjustment and will never wear one over a wetsuit). The GMTs and Exps have the best compromise of comfort/size, ease of use (easylink really is easy) and also a fliplock for security.

I actually find the glidelock to be too long. To me the perfect clasp is a GMT sized clasp with glidelock functionality, just not as big of a span

I agree, the glidelock is a bit clumsy and huge. Having to take your watch off the wrist to adjust isn’t the brightest idea either.

For an over engineered watch like the DSSD I do find the clasp fitting though.
Totally over the top but matches the watch.

I am definitely trolling a bit for fun as I too held this view for years. I’ve had probably a dozen Rolex divers (I’ve bought many several times as I’m clearly nuts) with the glide lock and agree it’s awesome just for me it could be streamlined.

Yes the gmt/Daytona is great too! I just loathe pcls and find this clasp even more svelte which I like

Have used my OP during trail ultramarathons & skydiving, never worried that it might come loose.
