I think its an adjustment for local MRSP which was low .
Timing : I find that interesting .1st of December .
May get another price hike with the rest of the world Jan 2021 ,if there is an increase .

in the last year the Rand is down 15% vs the Euro & 10% vs $US. Which means buying a Rolex today at last year's price is now 10% - 15% cheaper than it would be elsewhere in the world. Just a true-up to that reality

I tend to agree with you about another hike in Jan 2021. We went so long before the last one just get the vibe that another 5% or so increase is on the way.

ZA prices are still far less than the rest of the world.

Going to check now, I had just got new insurance certificates now need to schlep again. First world problems.

Rolex Price Increase : 1st of December 2020

Didn’t we just get a price increase with the new releases in September?

That was only for those new references. The last price increase across the whole catalog was in Jan 2020. I have a feeling another worldwide price increase is along the horizon given current economic conditions. Not to mention a lot of central banks released huge amounts of money into circulation this year to dampen the blow of Covid.

The UK had a price increase in January 2020. We will probably get another one next year.

Lmao. At this trajectory with price increases and grey market the base model SS sub will be $20,000. Not sustainable imo

The market seems to be doing just fine atm, what is another 5-10%? I would be shocked if they don't jack prices on their entire catalogue.

.

Here's 2 comparative charts I just made with a limited pannel of watches models.

These charts compare MSRP in various countries, for this pannel of watches, all prices converted to US dollar (as of change on Nov. 27, last friday).

1st chart before South Africa 10% average price increase on December 1st, 2nd chart after SA price increase.

Before this increase you can see that SA was one of the the cheapest place in the world (local VAT included), if not the cheapest.

Price increase today put these prices in a less unusual position ...

You’ve got a picture of Jesus as your pic. That’s how long you’ve been saying it’s not sustainable for I’m guessing

One of my favorite quotes: “Twice Nothing is still nothing”

Maybe the MSRP did go up, but if you can’t buy it at MSRP anyway doesn’t mean that much.

Yet try walking into an AD and getting any Rolex nowadays. And I don't even mean just the SS sports models. So seems like it will be sustainable for them.
