Sell 15400 for 126600?

Guys,

I need help. I have an option to sell my 15400 for a 126600 but I cant make up my mind. I have more than enough Rolex watches but I am a sucker for movements. My friend, who works for Rolex, claims that their new movements are fantastic hence I am inclined to sell my 15400 to get a Sea Dweller but AP movements are beautiful to look at.

What should I do?

I think you have Rolex well covered in your collection, I wouldn't do it. The ideal move from an AP RO Imo is a PP 5711.

I want to offer another perspective here, so you can make a fair and informed choice:

But I can't.

I would generally agree with this...however, at some point I wouldn't argue with maybe moving some of your others for a SD43.

I would have done it in a heartbeat. 15400 is nice but the lack of water resistance bothers me. Not as rugged as the 126600. The new movement on this watch is impeccably accurate. Good luck.

No, movement on a Rolex is only solid, no reason to sell an AP for one. Maybe look to Patek and the 5712 if you want a nice movement you can see plus the sweet micro-rotor.

Or from a 5711 to an RO IMO.

To the OP: No don’t do it.

I might be the only one on this forum who doesnt see the charm in 5711. I might wait and buy either a ALS datograph or the PP 5960.

Good, dont sell your RO

I still dont understand what's special about the 3235 movement when compared to 3135

The 15400 is stunning but I sold mine after a while. It just didn't fit right. Also the proportions seemed off. I think your issue is you're thinking about selling it so therefore there's something about it that you don't like. That's the beginning of the end... so flip it and move on!

If you’re into movements, the case should be very clear. No.

Rolex’s 3235 may be nice and new and all, but AP’s 3120 is the 3120. End of story.

Thank you guys for your thoughts and wisdom. The only reason I wanted to sell the 15400 was because I never wear it. I know AP movements are very delicate so I try to wear it on special occasions only but I wore the watch yesterday and fell in love with it all over.

Having too many watches is also a curse...who knew :( :)

The movements are not delicate, more the fine finishing is. Wear it and enjoy it, just use wrist awareness.

Not so: I have a 15300 and wear it in exactly the same way I wear my Rolexes. Royal Oaks are not delicate at all!

AP 3120 movement is not delicate at all..

The only delicate part on the watch is bezel..

I agree

A SD43 would be an excellent addition with your DRSD
