Garage Sale Find Part 2
Hi. I bought this at a garage sale (thanks for the responses in the first post) for $40. Ben Bridge says its real but the bracelet is fake because it says made in mexico. A few other jewelers say that Rolex made bands in Mexico in the 70's. Does anyone know about bands behind made in Mexico? Maybe I should send to a Rolex center? Thanks for the input.

Your dealer is incorrect. The bracelet is genuine. They show up quite often here in Texas.

That bracelet alone is worth ten times what you paid for the whole watch.

Nice grab!
Ugh! This thread reminds me of the day my wife passed on a near identical Rolex at a costume jewelry-heavy estate sale a couple years ago... She took pictures and sent them to me with a text saying "They want $20 for this... What do you think?" When I got the message she was already traveling to another estate sale and I immediately told her to turn around and buy it. When she got back the man running the sale said it was no longer for sale. She cried! I've got her trained enough now to the point she can feel the quality... I told her to take the gamble if her gut tells her. |

Most Rolex bracelets are/were made in Switzerland. However, to by-pass some of the high import taxes, bracelets were made in several different counties over the years.
Not only in Mexico, but even here in the USA. Here, the blades were marked "C+I" and a date code. Most people agree that the SWISS made units are of better quality and usually bring a premium to the others... Nice catch OP....I would take it to the "Antiques Roadshow" and get some kudos on the small screen!

Thats the real deal. In the 60's and 70's there were a lot of different bands. Obviously the American band was prob the most common but the Mexican band with the big crown was out there too. WHAT A FIND! Congrats!!!

To add bands were made in Mexico, the USA by two companies. Jb champion and c+i. Bands were made also in Argentina, Japan and the uk over the years
