Holy geez what happened, got two calls from two AD two days in a row

Long story short. AD1 is where I purchased dj36 126233, champagne motif dial diamonds set for wife. Now they called again, blah blah… another 126233 but Wimbledon dial with green Roman numerals. SA said I know you have a DJ36 but this one is different you want to see it for yourself.
AD2 is the one I have never dealt with only walked in once registered my interest on a DD but they called with a 126233 too but with white dial and golden roman numerals. Can hold for a day or so.

Now I’m a bit puzzled. Is dj36 really that unpopular that 2 flies to my way in two days?
More importantly the question is should I take one for myself (I have 6.2” wrist so 36mm should be fine), if so which one? Grey color Wimbledon looks interesting but the green Roman numerals look bit dull or comics or even plasticy. While white dial is a bit boring.
Or should I just hold my breath and skip this time, considering I’m currently saving for a DD

It's about ADs wanting to spread the fun. You got lucky, as am sure more than a few here on TRF would be happy with one of them.

#Gratitude

PS: Another vote for DD.

The Wimbledon is really nice. You may want to at least check it out. That way,if you don’t want it, after trying it on, you can tell the SA that it’s just not for you. You won’t have damaged your relationship, in any way, by just saying “no, Thanks”, over the phone, or by text.

These have been available throughout the drought if one asks.

Typical:
Guy: Do you have any BLNR?
AD: Sorry, no
Guy: Any datejusts?
AD: Sure, here's a wimbledon

I'd love to see inside an AD safe. Likely everything is in stock. They're just selling the datejusts now since the hype is wearing off throughout the range.

Datejust Wimbledon is selling about 10% above retail at greys so maybe that explains why flippers are not so interested

That being said, its a nice watch

100%! DJ availability should become common now. 2 friends of mine were able to purchase theirs with no history In Paris last month.

I wasn’t over excited about the Wimbledon until I saw it in person, but it is a great dial. Very versatile and I wear it alot.

Unless you fall in love. If you do, buy it, and just save up longer for the DD. Then you will have 2 new beauties. The PM models are getting easier to procure, from an AD, so buying the Wimbledon can only help your cause. If you play this right, you may save money, in the long run.

I got the call from two different ADs both for a 116519 (what some call the Ghost) back in 2020. I had bought on the first call, so passed on the second.

I think the Wimbledon is the best DJ dial in the lineup. Followed by the olive palm motif and then probably the mint dial.

This time next year they will be offered at 10-15% OFF at your local AD.

Take a look it won’t hurt and get what you want, even if you have to wait a little for DD
I wish my AD would call me for something:(

Datejusts are coming in more often. In the last couple of months, a couple of occasions that I have dropped in at two different ADs locally, there has been one or two Datejusts (36 or 41, different combinations) sitting around and available to purchase.

I’d wait on the DD, for you can pretty much get them under MSRP.
In regards to the Wimbledon, I didn’t care much for it in pictures then got a chance to see one in person and liked it. Once I got it in the Sun, that was it and purchased it. TT, fluted bezel, 41mm. Had it for about two weeks and got a offer I couldn’t refuse.
Picked up a SS one and it was gone in a weeks time.
Recently picked up another TT in 36mm and plan on keeping it, unless someone makes a offer again I can’t resist. I’d at least go and check it out.

I'm guessing it's less that and more:

1. Jewelry other than Rolex is moving slow (including other watch brands).
2. They don't want to put anything out for actual sale in the cases until they ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO, now that people are accustomed to display pieces and SCARCITY.
3. So they cold call people that asked for models with some (any?) similarity in the hopes that you'll think they're doing you a favor and move some metal. They still have rent and payroll to make, in some fashion.

Student loan payments are starting up next month and this inflation has been really damn sticky. S&P looks like it's formed a double top if charting is your thing. Maybe people are getting cautious.

Who the hell knows for sure? What I DO know is that if my AD starts to cold call me, it's really hitting the fan. I live in an area with lots of "stealth wealth" and a great economy overall. The only signs I've noticed that anything has changed is that some stores are slower than they used to be on Saturdays, and restaurants are suddenly able to fill positions and are getting some of their quality back. Otherwise, business as usual.
