IIRC, yes it does. I have two links taken out of mine and checked when I got the watch. I'll check again and if it is different I'll correct my reporting; it's been since November when I checked.

I just tried the Platona, it is really nice. In the flesh I can confirm that to my eyes I feel thar it might have better readability than SS white, but I can not measure it. I tried inside and outside the store,
They had the PT DD too, nice piece but to me I feel the fluted bezel as the soul of the watch.

Coming from a DD fanatic, I would chose the Platona, no question. The DDII is a hideous out of proportion embarrassment. Don't get me started.....

For those that are familiar with both would you think the Daytona is that much better ? The way I see it , with stainless steel watches , used selling for on or around $20000 the day date is a no brainer. Let me know what you guys think and I will post pictures up soon of my purchase .
No contest IMO. I would get a Day Date 40.

While most watches can pass with with a suit in the modern era (I think subs/GMTs are great examples and personally wear a YG sub with formal wear) the Daytona is probably the one Rolex that just really can't pass easily with formal wear considering how intensely busy the watch is.

If you are going platinum and want a piece that can pass in both worlds, definitely go for the day date. If this watch is only to wear with polos on the golf course or t shirts on a casual day then both are options and the platona is a cool choice. That said if you are getting a nice watch solely for casual wear I would consider a Smurf or white gold GMT (assuming you don't like YG) and save the difference.

They are two totally different watches. Buy the asthetic you prefer.

I vote for the PT DD

I am 68 and purchased my DD about 20 years ago. It is a 36 mm but it is very legible. Some found the dial of a Daytona pretty but I think it is just busy. Besides, I have no use of the chronograph function. The new DD at 40 mm should be more legible than my 36 mm. One advantage of the PT DD is that it does not have the fluted bezel and does not shout Rolex. I probably wore this DD more than any other watches.

I am 59 and have also contemplated this same issue, but after 4 years I found the DAYTONA to be less formal than the DD Presidential as I don't want or need to be noticed . I just received my Platona yesterday and I am amazed at how much I like it.
It is exquisite. good luck with decision

Tough choice but I would do the new DD 40 in Platinum with blue dial personally!

Read this and decide...

A 50th for your 50th makes me lean heavily towards the 116506.

Hmmm

Lots of trash talking the DDII. Dunno, I’m pretty satisfied with mine. Maybe it’s different when you own one...

Guess it really depends on your cup of tea. I admire both, but could only choose one. Hope you make right decision for you.

I prefer steel for the Daytona, sold the platinum version.

Def DD40 over the DD2

One thing to consider is that the variations on the PT DD is much more than the PT Daytona. Just look at the pictures that were posted on this thread. There all have different dials. While my DD is definitely not a limited production watch, I have not seen another DD that looks like mine in person or on the internet.

Thanks for posting your DD. Your DD dial is very interesting. Prove my point that there are so many variations of the DD dial that one can find something to his liking.

Get a New DayDate... The Daytona is so small it feels like a ladies watch.

LOL! I guess you probably like to have a hockey puck size watch strapped to your wrist. I have a small wrist along with a lot of others. Big watches are not for everyone.

Nope but a Daytona is a pretty small watch.

I was just pulling your leg. The new DDs are bigger but DD used to come in 36 mm which is the size on mine. Daytona is still better than the 36 mm DD. The recent years, it seems all the watches are going for the bigger size. Hence once the Daytona used to be big became small compared to other watches that had increased the sizes.

I'm 30 and get tired of reading a Daytona.

Love me some Daytona, but without date complication and difficult legibility, it is far from my daily watch.

OP, at 50 years of age I don't think your eyesight will be getting better. So you may consider the more legible watch. Not being facetious.
