I REALLY can't explain my luck...

...but after having an SS Sub Date land in my lap out of blue earlier this month, on Saturday night, a separate dealer had set aside an SS Explorer for me (delivery later this week).

I can't really explain it - I've been a good customer of these two places in the last year, but not to a greater degree than probably a lot of other potential customers.

Now, if I wake up tomorrow and there's a picture of a Daytona in my inbox...nah, that would never happen. (Actually, THAT would never happen.)

Pix to follow.

I have to ask: do you actually *want* these watches?

That's a very good question. A year ago my AD rang me out of the blue and offered me the red letter Sea Dweller. I hadn't asked her for one and actually didn't even think about buying one, but I accepted the offer anyway because a) it's an attractive watch and b) it's hard to get.

Thankfully, a year on and I have no regrets - it's one of my favorite watches and I wear it very often.

But I do wonder what I would do if she was to call me anytime soon and offer me another attractive and hard to get watch....

Well, of course I do. I’d asked both to keep me in mind for Rolex SS, and these two happened to come available. If there were a list these dealers had, I’d have been on it.

If they are two watches that you particularly wanted, your luck is good at the moment. Congratulations on two great acquisitions. Nothing lasts, good or bad. If you're going through hell, keep going. If you're mid lucky streak, enjoy it and get the most out of it.

Getting the opportunity to buy an Explorer is luck?

Seriously, take an objective look at what you just posted.

It’s amazing to me to see where we are in this cycle when we celebrate being allowed to buy an explorer. Crazy times.

hhmmm.. don't know what to think of this.
Question to ask yourself : had you seen those watches in the store and know they were readibly accessible, would you have purchased both at such a small interval?

People are like this because what once was 'buying a watch because you love it and want to treat yourself has now become 'as soon as I see one available i'll buy it because it's rare'
