Lucky to have the choice. Go no date. Much more attractive.

Owned both, only have Date now. So date for me...
Trends on the forums these days seem to be to in favour of the ND. Can’t go wrong with neither.

This is the same response I gave to the last OP for this exact same thread topic! Sorry OP but if you can’t answer that question yourself, you have no business buying a watch.

I vote with date because it's handy to have it on the watch.

Depends on your current collection. I would choose a Submariner ND, but I already have a SD43 with the cyclops and I like the connection of the no date with the James Bond character.

Submariner date for me. I got the 114060 at one point thinking I didn’t, it lasted about a year before I swapped it out.

This may sound like heresy... and I’m new here...
But I would get the date model and remove the cyclops. To me the cyclops is like a wart and kills the symmetry of the dial, but I would want the date because I feel it’s a useful feature To me that would be the best of both worlds. |

You really can’t go wrong with either, as someone said, flip a coin.
For me, I have other rolex models with the date. This and the clean look of the 114060 really persuaded me to get the no date. I love my no date and wouldn’t swap. Congrats either way. |

Tough call, newer to the forum and newer to what the forum wisdom says...
My experience; I had a sub date from 1990-2004 or so. (49 years young now for the record) I used the date all the time "pre cellular" I did find if I set the watch down for a weekend, that I would have to set the date, which takes a moment to do... Now my wife's Rolex has date also; she only wears it when we go out for a special event (less than once a month); my winder had died, so I found setting the date a pain. My Daytona has no date, if I set it down for the weekend and it dies; it is very fast to set the time and go,... much easier. I don't need to know the date daily, and once I hear the date, I generally remember for the rest of the day. Now, I want a Sea Dweller, and it will have a date.... But I went ahead and bought a 3 watch orbita winder (the company is in my town, so I bought an overstock one) So, I would ask myself these questions 1. Will I set it down for a long weekend and let it wind down (or do you have or plan on a winder) 2. Do you use the date? 3. Are you going to feel inadequate as a human when you see someone at a party and they have the date on theirs? kidding, but when I had mine; the no-date was the economy model....at least that is how I saw it. Are you in a watch smart crowd that would realize the no-date was a conscious decision? or does the iconic sub look get lessened as it is missing something people are used to seeing? The other thing, I recently saw a youtube video that brought up an interesting viewpoint; it expressed that a nice watch should evoke a pleasant feeling; the date can be a reminder of things that aren't as joyous (like your vacation is over, or tax date, etc) Having worn a date for 15 years and a no date for 15 years; I liked the no-date watch just a bit more. But on a sub, I think I would opt for the date; it just seems like it should be there. But its a tough call; I missed a no-date sub at my dealer the other day; I didn't even ask to see it....now, two weeks later; I think I would have purchased it with my new viewpoint Sorry to be so long-winded; but it is a larger purchase that merits some thought |

I actually want to do this to my sub date. The no-date crystal is a straight swap; you just have to find a watchmaker with the parts account and tools to do it. You can’t just remove the cyclops on the 6 digit models, because the AR coating is only applied directly under that date. It leaves a spot that looks like the cyclops where it’s now missing. Someone with a ceramic GMT learned the hard way ... It looks awesome. Like a sea dweller without the thickness and unnecessary helium escape valve. A guy on the forums did that several years ago and then took an absolute beating selling the watch at a later time. That was before the madness ... he would have probably made money on it these days. - Sent via iPhone. Please excuse any typos or brevity in my message

No date for me, but then again I have a GMT so I don’t have the necessity for a date complication. Either way you can’t go wrong.

They fit different. The Submariner Date is thicker. I'd suggest trying on both and seeing which you prefer.

I like no-date, but bought the one with date. I am one of those guys who actually will use the date function every day or multiple times a day. I am so used to wearing watches, that I am still not conditioned to use iPhone for date or time.

As a one & only Rolex, I’d go with the date... If you plan on expanding into a collection w/ the possibility for a DJ, GMT, or Exp II, I’d go no-date.
