most likely yes, otherwise, it has been looked after extremely well. Did you ask the seller?

Look at the crown on the clasp. Get a better photo. It should be crisp and standing tall! From the extreme angle it’s hard to tell but it looks like it’s been polished down a lot. You can find examples to compare to. Case looks polished too.

Case edges look not so sharp as new. Nothing beats a few photos in daylight to assess what work have been done on the watch.

Most likely polished and/or cape codded.

And it is a nice watch!

If its running good and the price is fair, why not buy it? No reason not to.

As for the rarely used, grain of salt that stuff. Mechanical watches tell time, not record it. No way to know w/o opening it.

It looks pretty sharp to me, if it was polished it was done right. Bezel looks crisp as well.

I have a similar model and it looks polished but well done. Lugs are thinner.

The clasp is a dead giveaway to polishing bc you can't wear that and not have any scratches on it at all!

If the price is right go for it.

Don't worry the shinny nature of the polish will wear off from wearing it!

It's a 50 year old watch that does look very nice, I believe that the seller is incorrect.

I’d say definitely polished but it looks good. If that’s your only qualm, I wouldn’t let that stop you.

The likelihood that a watch of its age has never been polished and is in that great of shape is highly unlikely.
Even if it was polished, it was done very professionally and correct.
If the price is right, it would be a nice pick up.

Looks like it's been polished to me but if price is good - why not?

As an example to compare, a 41 year old one, daily used 35 years, 1st. owner, 100% unpolished....
Watch the the typical OEM angled/parallel with the case polish direction on the lugs.

Actually the clasp does have scratches, and it’s an x serial, I also believe that this watch was never polished or maybe polished slightly by Rolex

Who cares! If you like it and you feel as thought it’s priced fairly then buy it and enjoy it.
