Interesting scam method—switching cash envelopes

https://www.google.com/amp/s/kdvr.co...list-scam/amp/

Not very sophisticated and, while it doesn’t sound like the victim protected herself well, consider it a cautionary tale. Don’t get caught up in the rush of the moment, take your time and think things through.

We see too many of these type of criminal stories with expensive watch. so many con-artists online..and craigslist.

Not the smartest thing to go back herself. For 8K, she met up at Starbuck? Oh well. Live and learn...

It sucks because there are some genuinely good sellers too. I remember when I bought my last car from a guy on Craigslist. I flew into ATL, guy picked me up in the car at the airport, had a great chat all the way to his bank, did all the paperwork and cash transaction there, then was on my way. Granted it's not a Rolex, but was the same price some people pay for a Rolex.

I still think one needs to make considerable effort to 'buy a seller' prior to making any purchase. An extra 5-10% on ANY sale, from an individual that you feel more comfortable with, is a no brainer.

There were red flags all over this transaction... as soon as he took out some tape, I would have split... $8,000 at Starbucks?!?!

Wow, she should have met him either at an AD or a bank. Sounds like they got him on CCTV though so I hope this story has somewhat of a happy ending soon!!
