1975 Rolex 5513: fake or genuine help please
Hello all, I'm intrigued by the idea of building a watch from parts. I have an opportunity to buy a 5513 case as a base, to which I'd add a 1520 movement I already have and then service dial & crown, etc. to complete it (for personal use obviously!). But I want to make sure the case is authentic. Here are pictures I took when I looked at the case. (You can right-click and "open image in new tab" for even larger versions)
Thanks in advance for any guidance and advice! |

Only the third photo is showing for me...
It appears to be OK from that one photo but I'd like to see the rest of them before I pass judgment. Is it only a mid-case, or do you get the back and crystal retainer and bezel as well? On the secondary market, those additional parts will cost several thousand dollars, so do keep that in mind. |

Thanks for the reply. Yes it is the four pieces: midcase, case back, bezel, and retaining ring. Here are links to the photos, since they're not all showing up...

I think you're good to go. Older fakes were never that accurate- a newer case would potentially have issues.

It is genuine but the bezel ring is over polished to the point of no return (I have one just like it I replaced!).
Mid Case looks nice. Polished but still fine to use. Picture is blurry but I don’t see obvious crevice corrosion- certainly not enough to fail pressure test. |
