5168g on leather

Looking for a leather strap at JR for my newly acquired 5168g. I don’t have the watch with me, so wanted to get others thoughts. Not asking IF I should put on a leather strap but what color would you choose? I’m thinking blue to match the dial but open to suggestions on other colors. If blue, darker or lighter?

Any idea of the lug height? I would assume a very thick strap would look silly...

Blue works and I would go slightly darker. The best indicator will be to get the strap on the watch and then get it in the light to see how it matches. Great watch.

The one on the far right will look best but I would stick to rubber.

Looks fine the way it is. But if you want to switch it up the darkest of the blues works best, though a lighter blue might make it “pop” more. And just an observation that those straps appear to lack the curve necessary to sit flush with the watch case, which may leave unattractive gaps near the lugs.

Not a fan of blue leather with the 5168G personally. I think a blue sailcloth or something more rugged would go better.

If forced to choose - the one of the left. I like the larger scales.

Mr N is correct, I’ve grounded myself from wearing it until I can learn to take of my nice things 😂

I didn’t end up picking up the straps because I didn’t have my 5168g with me and was worried they were too thick. Next time I’m headed to a city with a JR (NY, London, Paris) I plan on taking the 5168 and pulling the trigger. I still think a nice leather strap would give it a more formal look.

True but it took 5 years to be well and truly beat up, and was only the basic SS model

Can’t imagine changing the original rubber Aquanaut strap. Personally I think they complement the watches and dials perfectly.
