Buying a vintage sub, opinions?
So I have the opportunity to buy this watch from a friend who doesn't want it. I honestly have no interest it as I'm not really into watches anymore, was just wondering what the value might be for it. He said his father bought it in 1955 but I think it's newer than that. From the looks of it it's been re lumed. Also has no bezel. Thanks in advance! Willimage.jpg

remove the bracelet and check the model and serial numbers if still legible.

Whatever you buy, send it off to the Ridley clan in Dallas as soon as you get it. Anything you buy will need some tlc. If you buy that one they can help you source the parts you need and make repairs.
That watch isn't terrible - the case is pretty fat but patina'd. The folded link bracelet looks stretched but usable. That crown and tube are undoubtedly original so they'll likely recommend a new tube and crown. The dial is hard to really see through the crystal but in general dial and case quality should drive vintage purchase decisions. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk |
