Bracelet Removal

Hello all, I need some assistance. I am having so much difficulty removing the bracelet from my Speedmaster with the Omega tool. After depressing the springbar from one side and pushing on the end link and doing the same to the other side, I can’t get the other side to come out fully. I watched some YouTube videos and followed exact steps, but still can’t get it out.

Any techniques when removing? I want to put on a leather strap and can’t.

Help!

It sounds like it's sticking a bit. Just hold it in warm water for a few minutes. That'll free the pin.

Not sure if this could be the cause, but I believe Omega specifies slightly shorter springbars for use with the bracelet and slightly longer springbars for use with straps. If the bracelet is currently attached with the springbars meant for straps then I imagine this could cause the difficulty you're experiencing. Again, I could be wrong, and just sharing the thought.

Didn't know about the longer springbar for straps! Good to know! Thanks. I bought a Barton strap with the quick release. I guess I should not be using that springbar and use the omega supplied springbars instead.

This is a brand new Speedy, so I'm assuming the springbar is the right one for the metal bracelet. I'm a klutz so will try working on it some more.

Finally got the bracelet off by playing around with it. I used the quick change springbar that came with the Barton straps. Seems to be working fine, but should I not use them? Anyone have issues with them? My fear is the straps detaching....

I don't use Barton, but I did use a Hirsch strap with the quick change springbars all summer on my Speedmaster. No issues. They're pretty common and if they were really bad then the internet would be full of horror stories.

I use the OEM springbars. Just keep in mind the straps use different springbars the bracelets. If you manage to get the bracelet on with the strap springbars good luck getting them off.

The strap springbars are a little longer and I believe a little thicker also

That's also model dependent.

My 8900 PO uses the same for OEM bracelet and strap. My 2500 needed different bars.

Didn't realize that.

The Moonwatch and Moonphase both use difference bars for straps and bracelets from what I understand

My watch came with the bracelet and strap as part of the LE package. I also got 3 sets of spring bars and all look the same.

Understood. Guess it's watch dependent. Killer watch by the way
