Vinyl was going to be my answer. A technology that was almost completely dead, ended up being the last one standing in terms of physical music format. In fact, I didn't realize how the market had changed until my favorite band released their last album and it was only available on LP and digital download. Fortunately I have a decent turntable.

Classic cars are interesting because I think it shifts over time. People go after what they identified with and wanted in their youth. I think that as the Boomers start going en masse, the 50's classics out there are going to get quite a bit cheaper.

I was born in the 70's. No interest in a '57 Chevy, but I would adore a 1970 Cadillac Fleetwood 75. The giant GMs and Fords were still around when I was a kid.

I miss film.

I went to photography school just as digital was starting to gain some traction. We had one class on digital photography but most of our work involved 120 and 4x5 film and a lot of time spent in both the B&W as well as the color dark rooms.

One of these days I really want to get a Leica MP so I can get back to shooting some film. But then of course I'll need a dark room too, because that's half the fun.

I had started dabbling with portra a few years ago, though I don’t have my own dark room. Film is certainly more tedious than the efficiency of digital media but you’re right. The images are reminiscent of family photos that I remember in the 90s while I was growing up. Maybe that’s why it feels like the images impart a dash of warm nostalgia.
