Offered a blue 15400. Should I take?
Hey all,
Just picked up a white dial 15400 last month, but the boutique called and offered me a blue dial. Are they really that rare that it would be worth purchasing? Is there a flip opportunity? I would possibly trade my white dial, but if I would take a wash on the blue I wouldn't really be into it. Thanks! |

If you bought the white at the boutique I would guess you’re more likely to take a wash on that than the blue.
If you want the blue then now is the safest time to make the move. 15400 white should be an easy sell. Only you can decide if it’s worth the premium

I basically made the same move.
But I bought my 15400 white Dial from a trusted seller for a very competitive price. Took a hit on the sale but picked up a great deal on my preowned blue from a fantastic forum Member. It was worth it for me. Love this dial! |

I would say depends on how much the difference is. If it is a "few" bucks more go for it, but if we are talking about money that can essentially get you another watch... I would pass. The silver/white dial is pretty unique to the 15400/15450 while the blue (although nice) is pretty spread out among the AP brand (for obvious reasons).
I really like the silver/white dial. It really pops on the RO. |

I wont do it. For 15400, I actually think the white dial is nicer than the blue. Much better instead to wait for the 15202 Jumbo if you want a blue dial royal oak.

Up to you if you really love the blue. Personally, I have the white dial, and would rather keep my pennies.

If you love the blue enough to lay out the cash for the color do it. Personally I love the silver so it would be a waste of money for me.

The silver dial rules
A very good reason why I bought it back after selling.

I’d keep the silver 15400. If you want something blue go 15202, 15300 or 5711

Do it. If you want a watch for a daily use the 15400 is the better option because of the movement. And how it looks on your wrist depends from the size of your wrist. For me the 15202 isn't a option, I've sold it to get the blue 15400 which is a boutique edition also. The 15202 apart of all the romance is a watch which you can get from every AD here in Europe, I don't know the situation in US.

If the rest of Europe still has them at AD's I would say those days are limited unfortunately considering the UK doesn't even have a proper AP retail presence and they still won't supply AD's. Countries that actually have boutiques it would be even easier to restrict availability from AD's . |

I thought the blue 15400 is already boutique exclusive?

Pretty sure those AD's dont get the blue 15400's. I know my AD has a growing list of models AP won't sell to them in addition to boutique only pieces which they already officially can't get. I dont think they have any intent or interest in making models more widely available. Its really weird but with only around 10 retail outlets in the country (the majority of which are within walking distance of each other) its probably super easy to funnel whatever sales they want into the back alley lounge at brooks mews.
