Bill I am wearing my 312 as I type this. I was the same way when I tried on a PAM 3 yrs ago and felt that a deep sea is too big 2 years ago. Now I am hoping for a 339 at 47mm. My watches range from 35 to 44mm.

Guess I will keep looking for a pre-owned.

Liked the sandwich dial quite a bit. Might like the paint as well.

Thanks Phil...Glad to hear your endorsement.

Sounds like I will also have to pay close attention to the seller - give the risks pointed out by watchman...

Now the debate:

- Search for a nice Sandwich dial pre-owned?
- Get an easier-to-find-painted dial (for less)
- Pay a buttload more at an AD for new?
Save yourself some money and buy used. If you buy from the right person you'll never know it was used.

I myself prefer the painted dials as I like the decorated movements. I am thinking about selling my sammy 111 and buying a painted. I find the painted harder to come by though and sometimes they are more than the sammys.

Thanks Roo....I intend to do just that. My Rollies were pre-owned / hardly worn. I LOVE 'em.

Seems the Sammy or Painted situation could go either way in terms of supply / demand / price...desirability.

imo if you know you want a 111 but dont mind a sausage dial, maybe you should open to a 005 also. This would probably give you a better chance in finding them in the pre owned market.

From what i have read and if i remember it correctly, the painted/sausage dials started like a sandwich dial and the numbers and markers are then filled with the lume material to make it a painted/sausage dial......

it's really your call in the end....I love the bigger watches right now...but they felt too big once...and they will probably again....if you love the PAM...hell - get it!

I got a Cashmere calf strap free... cost 200$ retail (quite popular here as well).

I got a shiny black/black croc free... cost 320$ retail.

My dealer told me I have 2 more free straps in the "bank". I'm looking to get a brown croc or a JV croc strap. Looking at a black all arounder strap - perhaps buffalo or carbon fiber oem.

Everytime I visit my AD, it's like a kid in a candy store!

Oh and he owes me a watch winder as well!

Doh...Thanks.

So how many watches have you purchased at your AD? You must have put one of his kids through college, eh?

BTW, I LOVE Chicago. Did my graduate work at a little school in Evanston. Need to get back for a Visit!!!

nice - these free strap thingy is great! You must be a loyal customer to the store or you are very close to the store owner :-) you are one lucky man Joey!

As for the 42mm is too large for anyway watch comment - i disagess if you have large-ish wrist. It is a personal preference imo.

If watches over 42mm were too big than AP, JLC, IWC, Panerai etc. would all be out of business--44mm perfect size!! IMHO--and in the opinion of the greatest watch manufacturers out there!!! They build them for the market demand! Ps--We are talking mm's not inches...Take a ruler out and see just how small a few mm's are!!!

Take into consideration also a watch with a strap versus one with a bracelet. You can wear... a 44mm with a strap wears "smaller" than a 44mm on a bracelet.

Why do you think that is?

Aren't PAM straps pretty wide / huge?

I mean, I am agreeing that the watch looks good on me as does my GSHOCK at ~ 50mm...

This is one side of the lugs of a Rolex Daytona that is about 47mm to 48mm from lug to lug.

The bracelet will only start to fold on your wrist after the lugs... so effectively is like a a 49mm-50mm watch.

With a leather strap it will actually start to curve with your wrist even before the lugs end.

... that does not sound to clear. Maybe someone else can give it a go...

I "borrowed" the pics from this reseller so I think it is only fair to post a link to the site: Bernard Watch Co.

I'm 6.5 inch and it can just pull it off. The only thing to be cautious of is many of the after market straps are a little longer than the OEM, so you might end up with a lot of tail and/or you may need to add an extra hole.
