I would expect it to be protected in the same manner as I have seen with all the 'new' watches on the Classifieds on this site.
Took me about a week to pull the plastic off of my blnr. They are amazing with where they put it on there. I would suspect as the others have stated that he isnt being honest with you...

He has initiated the refund so I will no longer be receiving my 40th birthday gift in time for this Saturday. Woe is me.

He still states in a text, and I quote-

"I assure you this is 100% brand new and ordered in for you but we will refund it if that is what you prefer! I am sorry for this and I just spoke with our watchmaker and it is Rolex policy to remove the stickers as we sell several hundred this way each year! Thanks"

What do you say to this folks?

If you want a plastic watch just buy a Swatch.

If the watch is ok just keep it, the AD shows watches for customers without the plastic stickers. Then at least 80%
AD's tells storys, if you don't like that let him keep the watch and get to next AD but don't be astonished if he tell
you another story.

I've been buying Rolexes (among other watches) for decades, and although I'm new here, so what do I know, but that does not sound right to me.

1) "I spoke with our watchmaker" That locution is odd. Does he mean his rolex rep?

2) I can pretty much assure you it is NOT ROLEX POLICY to remove the sticks before distributing them to an AD. That statement is surprising.

Again, I'm no expert, but we recently bought two Rolexes from a small AD, and ALL stickers were on the watches. Some I discovered weeks later.

All new Rolex watches I've bought was without stickers. The few stickers that where still on the bracelet etc was removed by my AD before my eyes without even questioning me.

Why the stickers are to be left on is so important to some is a mystery to me. But different strokes for different folks.

Sort of having wrapping on your candy.

It is a shop "Demo" for punters to try on in the mirror or it has been returned. Either way it isn't spanking new and should be discounted accordingly. I'd give them a severe talking to and mention that the world's finest Rolex community says he is full of shit.

Ask the AD if all his other new Rolexes have no stickers on them. If they do then judge accordingly.

Stickers symbolize new to me just like if I buy something new from the store, I don't want a box that was clearly opened and re-taped.

The fact that he said that Rolex doesn't sticker watches any more and that they don't come from the factory that way was a big red flag for me.

When he says watchmaker, that concerns me too, because I don't know the distribution channels ADs work though, which I assume would be a Distributor that works directly with the Rolex factory in Sweden.

I probably would have felt more comfortable if he had said he took the stickers off, but the fact that he stated it came this way in to him really concerns me. I want new and I expect my multi-thousand dollar purchase to be stickered.

In the end, he didn't say anything more to me and gladly refunded my money and that was the end of that.

Jocke, are you now making Rolex parts in your shop?

OP, I don't mean to step on your toes, I just can't get the fascination with the stickers.

Your AD is full of it though, and I think you should buy somewhere else. Much better if the AD would just told you "store policy to take them off" or something.

Good luck and I hope you can get your watch somewhere else for your 40th!

Smart AD's keep the stickers on the watches. The Hulk I went to try on at the local AD was fully stickered. The stickers at least help prevent scratches and such when many people are handling the watch. I ended up buying my Hulk here from jizeal on the forum BNIB with all protective stickers on. I would not have it any other way. As far as the OP, I would go to a different AD who will sell you a BNIB fully stickered watch and not feed you a bunch of BS. It is YOUR hard earned money you are spending.

A brand new watch should come with protective stickers. Part of the new watch buying experience is the task of removing these finely place stickers. :) It's like a 3M clear bra on a new car, but this one has to be removed.

Even the ones I tried on at the local AD had stickers on them.

This particular AD has indicated he has refunded my money and I am currently scrambling to find something to have in my hands by this coming Saturday.

Don't trust anyone who lies to you. The stickers may well only be worthless pieces of plastic that will end up in the bin but if he'd had the decency to be honest with you about them then there would have been no problem.

Let us know the outcome of this, I would love to hear how the AD gets out of this one, complete nonsense as you already know... Stickers are still flowing out of the Rolex factory

Look on the for sale section here at TRF. Call one of the dealers if you cannot find it. They will get you what you want, and at a nice discount (maybe by Saturday)!
