1675 Gilt dial question
After posting a photo of my '66 GMT in the wonderful post by Hank
http://www.rolexforums.com/showthrea...=381458&page=3 it was mentioned that my GMT might be a service dial and should be a gilt not 'white' like mine, after doing a little research I think I have determined that indeed my watch is a gilt and not a service dial but I thought I would double check. 1966' GMT , 66II stamped on the instead of case back, sn# 14002XX If it is a gilt dial, then I notice the value goes up considerably, perhaps I should not be wearing it at work in some of the rougher conditions which are guaranteed to get a ding on a regular basis, over the last few months I was thinking the value was in the 3-4k range which is low enough that I would rather wear it over my brand new EII, it seems some of these gilt dials go for well over what my EII value at?? I don't believe it has ever been polished, and only a few light scratches exist. Most unfortunate I don't have another vintage GMT to compare it to, but I am in a small town of northern Oklahoma and options are limited. I did compare it to my EII and it definitely stands out as not being 'white' letters, but enough of me talking, I would rather hear form the experts. Anything you would like to tell me about my watch or more specifically the dial, so I can try to find a match on chono24 or eBay to get a value, although I have zero chance of selling, as this will be passed down to my kids unless someone with a Daytona, blue milagauss, or Zenith El Primero wants to trade, :) Thanks in advance. |

1675 Gilt dial question
Don't worry, it's gilt my friend. The easiest way is to put it under the sun n the gilt will pop out.
Here is mine under the sun Congrats on a stunning watch. The value is over 10k in good condition.👌 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thank you very much, its an odd feeling, as for the last two month I thought i had a pretty common run of the mill lower value watch, I guess I never gave it much though to dig a little deeper.
Regards, Kevin |
