Viva Las Vegas

Hi all, I’m lurker of about 3 years, and have learned so much from this forum, and hope to keep that going.

After years of reading, watching YouTube vids, #searches on social media, and saving some money, , I’m ready to purchase my first Rolex.

Actually I’ve been ready for about a year now, but being my first expensive watch, I felt it should be from an AD with my name on the card, with the cool watch-buying process (lame I know , but behind my home/cars, this will be my most expensive personal purchase). However for a DJ41 F/J/rhodium in LV, ADs we’re either not taking deposits, or if so, informed me that those on the list have been there for months, without any idea when. With the world ending I want to get my watch now so I opened up to looking grey market retailers.

I was leaning towards jomashop, but numerous members on the forum suggest (in archived posts) looking at the reputable “boutique” sellers on the forum. Getting the warranty card and maintaining what’s left of the 5 yr warranty, as opposed to getting a Grey’s 2-yr warranty was a selling point. And lots of great references makes me more comfortable with it. There are a couple on the site with my preferred configuration, so I’m hoping I can post some cool pictures soon.

Glad to be part of a knowledgeable and involved forum.

I have heard they dont fill out names on cards anymore. It is linked to you still - but your name just won't be on there.

Somebody please confirm if this is the new policy at a Rolex AD.

Being that I'm not going the AD route, that's great! Rather would have that than some random name. Thanks for the info.

I was recently told they DO fill out your name on the cards to limit the re-selling of watches that is going on right now. It could be up the AD discretion, though, if people still manage to get them without names on the cards.
